Newbie with a question...

Greetings!!!!!
Well, donīt have the pics of my car on the net so I canīt show them to you. Yet. I have a MB 190e, 1.8, year 1991. I live in Croatia and the car was imported from Germany. i know Iīm among the slowest/weakest cars on the forum, but itīs OK by me. I like the car. The car is all standard, although it has a few badges saying "sportline". I reckon that stands for more sportier seats, lower profile tyres, electric sunroof, central locking, a little lowered car, electric windows....

The question: I have a 4-speed gearbox which I think is too long. I would like to replace the gearbox with a 5-speed, or if itīs possible, a 6-speed one. Could someone, please tell me which geaqrboxes could I use.... I mean, on which MB can I find a wanted gearbox which would fit my car???
Tnx!

The 1.8 was based on the Mercedes M102 engine block. There were two 5-speed manual gearboxes that should work with minimal modifications (pedals, driveshaft, trans mount, speedo cable, etc.), the stock 5-speed and the Getrag from the 16 valve. Other than those, study other transmissions that were offered with other cars based on the M102.
