New to Mercedes

Hi, I’m relatively new to Mercedes, and honestly working on cars in general, but I’m looking for a new daily driver that I can later turn into a weekend car. Something fun, reliable, and something I can just learn how to fix and upgrade. I love the look of the of the w201 but I don’t know too much about them. Would I be biting off more than I can chose by going for a w201 in terms of maintenance and parts cost? I know it is depends on the condition of the car that you purchase, but I just wanted to get a sense from the community about if this is a good option, or if I should move on to a different car and save my self the headache....Also so I would hope to put an evo kit on it far far down the line, but maybe that is too much of a hassle.

Any tips of advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

There is not much aftermarket support for these cars. Also they are old. I just refurbished one an I have well over 3k in parts into it.
