Needing new auto transmission for 1993 190e 2.3.
Hello all, my 190e is in need of a new automatic transmission since it won’t shift into gear only reverse works. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place to get one since I’m not having much luck locally finding anything. Also does the transmission have to be from a 93? Or can it range from different years of the 190e? Thanks in advance.

i believe they did a gear ratio switch in 87, look for an 87 up is what i would do. I would just take it to a local transmission shop and have them rebuild it. Should only be 1500 or so, buying a used one can be hit miss, and good stewardship goes a long way with a 190.

I got a replacement trans from Sun Valley Mercedes transmissions in CA. for my 87 300TDT. Awesome company that does transmission work directly for the Mercedes Classic Center in CA. It was about $1500 shipped. They shipped the replacement trans cross country to me in PA and a local shop here installed it and shipped the core back. I also have a spare auto trans from my 87 190D Turbo (which I replaced with a 5 speed manual.) The auto trans shifts in all gears but the front pump is failing- when you initially shift from park to reverse or drive, it takes several seconds for the shift to actually happen.

Research the B2 servo. This is often the cause of failure of forward gears when you still have reverse. Common failure on these cars. The part has been updated. Costs $77 @ Autohauz AZ. This is an external part. Can be replaced without pulling the transmission.
