1991 190E Climate control suddenly lost power.
I have a 1991 190E 2.3. Last night I installed a new battery. When I drove the car everything worked normally. The A/C blew cold and functioned normally. When I got in the car in the morning after 5 minutes of driving I turned the wheel to heat. After a bit I pushed the button for the floor vents and nothing happened. The vents didn't change, fan didn't come on at any speed, and the temp never got warmer. I tried pushing all of the buttons to change the modes including defrost and nothing happened. I turned the temp wheel to all the way cold and tried the a/c including re-circulation but nothing would happen. The tiny red light on the re-circulation button would't light either. It appears that the controller isn't getting any power. I checked the fuses to find none of them burned. All the fuses are good. I got in the car today to move it to the garage. As soon as I started it the a/c came on. It blew for about a minute or two then everything died like before. I pulled the unit out of the center console to make sure everything is plugged in good and it still didn't work. At one point when I turned the key on it worked for about 10 seconds and when it stopped I heard a small click when it died.
Are there any relays or over-current devices that would cause these symptoms? I have been trying to research different relays or other parts that might cause this. I would greatly appreciate any insight any of you could offer. Thank you very much.
