M102 oil Pump Drive?? Help

On the M102 engine does anyone understand what drives the oil pump main gear? I am reassembling a 2.3 M102 and it seems to me the only thing that can cause the gear to turn is clamping pressure from the main crankshaft bolt, which seems a little strange?? I have checked all the pics an instruction on WIS and EPC and am no better off if anyone is familiar with the timing cover and oil pump drive they will know what I mean; I don't want to put this back together if I am missing something here>>

I assume your car is a 190E? It would be helpful to have the year as there can be differences depending on the year. I would also suggest you check with the MB Classic Center in CA as they can help you with WIS and EPC. Best to email the MB Classic Center due to most working from home due to COVID. Also give them your VIN# for most accurate information for your car.

Correct hence the M102 and why asking the question on this forum..

Really looking for someone with experience with the M102.

WIS and EPC give no insight and actually the timing covers on the m102 changed only a little and none of the changes affected the oil pump drive.

Thanks for the suggestions, though.

You're welcome. The MB Classic Center is your best bet for the best information. They know the W201 and the M102 engine inside and out.
