Rear Rearward Subframe Bushings Install
Hope someone can help,
Currently overhauling the subframe in my 91 190e 2.3. The whole assembly is out of the car, things have been going well until it came time to install new subframe bushings. The fronts went in super easy with the tool I rigged up, the rears are a total mess. No matter what I try it will not install. Ive managed to get one in half way but it will not go any further, I checked its alignment in the pocket, and it is well lubricated with a gernous amount of silicone lube. Does not matter if the pressure is applied on the outer portion or inner, the rubber caves in. My tool set up consists of a modified pitman arm puller various washers, nuts, a threaded rod and and a ball joint cup adapter on the bottom to apply pressure. I will note, as Im sure people all ready know, the replacement bushings differ from the originals I removed, they are taller and the mounting hardware is slightly different. Any suggestions would be appreciated. In the mean time, I will continue to search for a solution. For reference I will include my research,
