Help with Fix Wooden Panel Cover Centre Console

Hi there,

Apologies for any mistakes, have just joined MBWorld Forum and excited to get right into participating.

I have a 190e. I have owned it for about two years now, have moved from London to Athens to Berlin to Marseille and back to London with it. Suffice to say down on the Mediterranean coast it was a necessity to have working windows. Unfortunately my windows have been wrought with problems from the window regulators to the botched wiring; its taken a long time to get them running smoothly. The latest in this saga is more superficial but does drastically effect usage.
In my car on my centre console panel I have 4 power windows switches, a passenger side power wing-mirror adjuster, hazard switch and child lock. Frustratingly dealing with lazy mechanics and old brittle plastic the clips that hold both the front window switches have now snapped off (see photos).
I am really struggling to see a way of fixing this problem and wonder if anyone has had a solution? The problem with these clips being snapped is that the front side of the switch gets pushed down and unclips the whole switch into the ether of below the panel, Its very annoying and fiddly.
I cannot really afford a whole new panel, the ones I have seen are around 150£-200£ with my switch configuration plus it is a tiny piece of plastic that is causing the problem so it doesn't feel justified... Has anyone got a nice fix for this problem, preferably not just super gluing the switches to the panel, as this doesn't seem very future proofed. This goes for the broken off plastic also as trying to superglue those back into place doesn't seem to help given the stress they are put under.

Really look forward to hearing any ideas as this is so boring at this point, new ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure if just the clips can be replaced or not. You might try looking in local junk yards to see if there are any 190s there that might have that center console you're looking for in good condition that you could buy for a much more reasonable price. I'm also aware of another 190 group that's U.K. based that might be able to suggest other places that would be much closer to home for you which is, www.mercedes-190.co.uk. I'm across the pond from you so I'm not familiar with the places that might be more local to you that might be able to help. Keep us posted and don't hesitate to ask if you need any more help with your 190. Some picture of your car would be nice..

Here are some pics of the car!
Thank you 190Efan for the tip! Its a pity but the truth is it was very cheap so details were always a bit tired. (I bought it for just shy of £1000)
If anyone has any UK merc scrap yards please do drop them in the thread!

Great pictures. Doesn't look too bad cosmetically. I would suggest you try the U.K. based 190 forum I referenced previously to get information on parts places and junk yards in the U.K that would be much closer to home for you and more easily accessible for you.. Most of the members in this forum are in North America, Europe and M.E. so not close by.
