Is it terminal?
We have a '93 190E (the sporty one with the red trim/black leather seats..if it makes any difference) with about 160,000 miles on it. It was serviced by Mercedes through about 75,000 miles, then serviced regularly by our local mechanic, who has now presented us with a problem.
There was oil in the coolant -- LOTS of it -- at the last checkup. No water in the oil, however. No black smoke. Compression is fine. So it's either the head gasket or someone put oil in our coolant by accident.
1) Are there any other possibilities for this condition?
2) Given that there are other (more minor) problems with the car, like window controls not working, climate control problems, etc....is it better to go through with the head gasket job and keep the car or button it up and go get something else?

hi,
I think a head gasket failure results in bad compression on some cylinders. It also doesn't smoke (possible but rare with blown headgasket). So I doubt it's head gasket.
