New Door Panels

Who wants NEW W201 door panels?
Imagine replacing that shrinking shriveling POS with a new crisp panel. Mercedes is taking parts requests to bring items back into production.
All you need to do is enter the part number on this website.

https://partssearch.mercedes-benz-cl...RhEASSagVS-GJ4
Here are the part numbers to enter:

With door speakers:
Front R: 2017206070
Front L: 2017205970

Without door speakers:
Front R: 2017200870
Front L: 2017200770

Please, for the sake of the 201 community, take 30 seconds to do this.

Got the PN's for the rears Nate? Also are these for manual or auto doors?
Would like to renew my center piece as well (were the hand-break lever is)
Thanks for sending this.

EPC does not distinguish between power and non power seat options. I can only assume you can cut the panel to include power seat switches if necessary.

Thanks for finding this Nate! There are so many W201 parts that are no longer available. Why don't we come up with a list of parts and submit the entire list? I can think of water pumps and radiators of the top of my head but I don't have the part number at my fingertips right this minute.

A lot of the NLA parts I've noticed are cooling/heating related.
Heater Core-only option is Nissens now 0028355401
The damn AC condenser for the 2.6 which doesn't have any options period! Only choice is used now.
2018302270

2.6 radiator is still available but absurdly expensive, ($400-$500) I Paid $220 for a Behr w/ the Mercedes star scratched off.

I put in the request for door panels and AC condenser.
Another one is the AC suction hose. Only one Chinese after market brand available now. Not sure what the part number is though.

Maybe things will change if we complain loudly enough?

Here's hoping for that. On the R129 side, for a while the transponder keys were NLA due to supplier issue. MB finally got a new supplier and you can get them now.
I think the AC condenser for the 2.6 became NLA because so few people were buying them. I know I got one of the last old stock ones in 2020.

Do not, under any circumstances, try and repair your door panels. Leave them alone.
I used a heatgun and injected hoodliner adhesive into the back by drilling holes. Did not work, vinyl just tears if you try and stretch it. Looks 100x worse than it did initially.

If anyone knows where I can find a passenger door panel that looks better than the one I have now, please let me know...Palomino with door speaker...

Yikes! I thought that would work too. Any chance the hood liner glue melted the material? I suspect gorilla glue would have worked better but not sure.
I have never, ever seen post '89 door panels (with speakers) without the armrest area peeling off.
Your best option is ditching the speakers and going with non-speaker version.
I have a pair of extra fronts in palomino but they are manual seat version and not perfect either.

Based on the picture you've posted, the color of your door panel looks too light to be palomino. My W201 has a palomino interior and it's a much more goldish yellow color. Your door panel color looks much lighter than my door panel color as in cream or beige. If you happen to have the data card for your car, it'll have the MB color code for your interiorl. There are also online sites where you can type in your vin # and get the MB color code that way as well if you don't have your data card.

I think Nate's car is palamino, it's just faded. Seen cars at the junkyard w/ similar fading.
I would follow Dolucasi's advice and switch to a 89 and earlier door w/ no door speaker, they are a lot more robust.

The photo does look closer to beige but it maybe a photo effect as 355 mentioned. The photos of my palomino sometimes looks lighter with different lighting.

- Cheers!

I like my door speakers, just got them working!

It's palomino, just a bad photo. I would take even a shrunken part at this point.

Basically, the vinyl just gets too thin and tears if you try and return it to it's original shape. I had to superglue a big gash closed.
No amount of heat seems to help.

I was planning to paint this car soon but I just can't justify it if my door panels look like ****.

Nate, if my memory serves me right, in some post you had inquired about adding speakers to pre-90 panels at some point. There is that nuclear option if you have the "knack" for these things. It will be very difficult and may not look good in the end.

I have seen some owners just give-up on the speakers and convert to the non-speaker ones that are a whole lot more sturdy.

Another option: One of my friends flush mounted 5.25in speakers on the pre 89 panels in his 91. While it doesn't look totally factory, he did a nice job w/ the install.

The worlds are colliding Nate. I have SEC560's door cards, I got them as extra's. However those are pre '90 without speaker holes.
As I was saying the passenger side is in pretty decent shape. The driver side would make a good one to practice your speaker cutout experiment.
If it does not work, so be it.

- Cheers!

if I do find some good door panels without the speaker grilles I will just leave it be. Not going to ruin some panels just to test it out. I would find a real junker panel from the scrap yard to do some testing. I could live without the speaker. Beggars can't be choosers.

i think a good compromise would be to install some aftermarket speaker grilles and spray them with palomino dye from world upholstry. Apparently they have pretty good color match

Yep, you've got options. Since you have access to JY's I would start there first and run some experiments. That's what I did when I added wood to my panels.
When you are done experimenting and if you can not find good palomino panels just let me know.
