Engine Swap

I have a 89 190e I wanna swap the engine out because I want a manual transmission because I plan to drift it, but idk any Benz motors that come with a manual besides the 190e with the dogleg, and I can't find any so the last resort is to swap the engine and trans out but idk what to put in it. I was thinking k series but apparently there's a lot more that goes into that. I know there's some fabrication you have to do with the firewall on some swaps so I'd like to stay away from all that.

Mercedes m272 v6 came with a manual. As well as the 4cyl of that timeframe.

I don't think the 190E is well suited to be used for drifting. I think you're better off buying a car that's better suited for drifting and that already has the manual transmission you want.

It'll be far more costly to create a car that can successfully drift than I think you realize especially since you're starting with a car that was not intended to be a hot rod. There are other cars out there that are already much better suited and would be less costly for you to turn into a drifter like a CRX, Celica GT, Z, etc.

all of those cost way more to start with though. if you can fab an angle kit it wont be that much

I think you're in for a surprise. You'll likely wind up spending the cost of a more suitable vehicle and more. There are no shortcuts.

Hi guys … I trust everyone is well

i am considering fitting a m104 2.8 engine from the w202 c280 in my 190e and was wondering if I could use my stock 5spd manual gearbox that is currently in the car and the stock engine mounts?

Engine will remain stock only adding E46 m3 throttles which I already own!

I know I need to use an aftermarket ecu which I will be acquiring later on (Fuel Tech)

If not can anyone please advise which Manual Transmission would work with the m104 and which engine mounts I need to acquire

thanks

This probably needs a separate post as it is a different subject matter, I would suggest starting your own post. That being said we do not know if you have the M103 or M102 engine in your 190E. If M103, I suspect it will be a bolt on. If 102, it is a bit more involved (from what I have read for years)
