Yellow Speed divorces coilover install

Hey guys,

I have been screwing around with these things for what seems like 20 hours now and I just cannot figure out the rears. With the divorced coilover setup, where the shock and spring are separate, how does the rear spring go??? Currently, when the car is jacked up and the wheel is hanging, the spring has no tension on it and can be moved freely around by hand and almost pulled out! I cannot adjust the height of the shock low enough to accommodate this. Does this mean I need to adjust the height of the spring perch to be higher in order for it to have tension? I’m at a complete loss. If anyone can give me a general guide as to how these properly go in the rear I would appreciate it.

What exactly are you removing and what are you mounting? If it is a standard set-up there are pelican part explanation of things like this. Sounds like you are setting up something different and if so, probably not a good idea. Maybe a picture or two may clear things up.

-Cheers!

I am installing a set of yellow speed coilovers. I have removed the old struts and springs so pelican is no help there. The coilovers are divorced not a true coilover setup so the shock and spring remain separate. This is the crux of my issue. I have attached a picture. My question is about that spring perch. You adjust the height of the vehicle through those discs on the spring perch. I just want to make sure I’m installing them correctly. If anyone has done this before and could give me some advice I would appreciate it.

Sorry, not familiar with your installation but it looks like standard set-up with adjustable spring height and a somewhat different shock absorber.
Hopefully someone else here has done the same Mod.
