1993 190E 2.6L V6 -- cranking and idling problem
So I have this 1993 190E 2.6L V6 Automatic which sometimes starts at the first try (most of the times when its engine is cold huh, which is kind of weird for this kind of problem I suppose), but most of the times only with the second try. Idling from time to time is shaky, speeding from a complete stop gives a bit rough (kind of like kicking back a bit) shifting to the first (i suppose) gear, but I pretty much sure this one is because the previous owner overfilled the trans. fluid, I've checked it with the hot and cold engine and verified with the expected level in the car's manual. Fuel gauge is jumpy, when I just started it, again, from time to time, it will jump all the way to the full, and then few mins later will give me the actual reading (which may fluctuate still a bit up during the ride). I just have no experience dealing with any car due to this one being my first one. So, can you guys give me some ways or instructions on how can I narrow down the potential causes for this because now after reading this and other forums and just surfing the web I'm overwhelmed with a multitude of variants, from bad alternator to fuel pump and EGR valve. Thank you guys!

Since you have no experience working on cars, my best advise to you would be to find a local mechanic in your area who is experienced in working on older Mercedes-Benz cars who can properly diagnose and repair your car.
