upper trunk bracket for warning triangle

I want to install the EURO Warning triangle on the inside of my trunk lid like they required in Europe. I have the the Mercedes triangle reflector. It fits perfectly in the bottom two holes in the trunk lid. I purchased a OEM bracket from the web but cannot figure out how to fit it into the holes in the trunk

I had to fiddle with it a bit and figured it out a few years ago. If you still need help I can send you a photo.

After further research I may have the wrong part number bracket I was able to find one ( which I think its the right part number ) in Germany but guy may not want to ship to US. . If you could send me the part number you used that would help,if its not to difficult to remove. IF not just a picture of the bracket installed on the trunk lid. Thanks. Any help appreciated

Here is the part the dealership sold me 4-5 years ago. It was relatively low cost is what I remember.
Since you are inquiring is it fair to assume they are now NLA?

If so definitely try classic parts center in So Cal.

I have seen some parts sold on ebay that look different but may work.

It was not easy to take out and I did not want to break it trying to do so.

Just stopped by the dealership to pick up a couple of o-rings for my fuel sender I just cleaned out for a bouncy gauge.

Unfortunately the triangle bracket is NLA now. Here are your part numbers (original and superseded by the W140.)

201 890 0014
140 890 0014

Picture below.

Hope this helps.

Do you have the correct part number? There is no rubber grommet. The plastic bracket just slides into the holes in the trunk.
You may have the incorrect part number.

After you posted this thread, I also acquired the triangle for the second car and bought bracket on Ebay using the part numbers I listed.
Apparently the bracket is shared between 201, 129 , 140 chassis.

Can you post a picture of your 140 890 0014? Front and Back? Also the part of your trunk this is supposed to attach to?

The other 2 are definitely the wrong part numbers.

I ended up with 201 890 0014 from EBAY. The dealership claimed 140 89 0014 is the superseded part but who knows, maybe there is a caveat.

From what I know this part either fits or it does not and does not need further attachments to make it work.

Seems to me that should just click into place. All the extrusions and holes seem to line up. Am I mistaken?
BTW, it looks very similar to the 201 part number I have.

The euro 8v I had that clip looked like isawelvis photo posted above. I do not recall there being any rubber just clipped into the holes on the trunk lid. mine was an earlier car manufactured in '84 don't know if possible revisions where made to that part or trunk lid structure for the later years. I remember taking that piece off when i sold my warning triangle well over a decade ago.

I speculate that the possible difference in part#s could be superseded as to fit a wider range of models.there used to be a russian epc parts site i used to use to look for parts on diagrams as sometimes the nomenclature could vary depending on who you ask. i know for other makes/cars there sometimes listed in notes on parts diagrams is the superseded #s.
