Stuck Distributor Rotor Bolt

Hey, I was planning to do my head gasket today but ran into an issue. This one bolt (See pics) is giving me a ton of trouble. It seems to be a 6mm allen key bolt but no matter how hard I pull, it wont budge. I havent pulled to the fullest extent because it is slightly stripping the bolt, and I know I'd be in for days of work trying to fix that if I stripped it out. Anyone had any luck getting this out? Tips and tricks? Etc? Any help would be appreciated.

I just did this job.

First off the allen socket is metric. Are you sure you used the correct size?

Get a triple square socket that is slightly smaller that the hex and drive in its the car screw head making sure it has enough bite then slowly back out the bolt. No jerking motion that may break off the socket in the hex.

Get a hex key a couple of sizes smaller and wrap the working part of the tool in fine grit sand paper- same procedure as above.

Noted. I'll try that when I'm back home. Yes, all of my tools are metric, it just kept very slightly bending the bolt hole, I'm pretty scared it'll strip lol.

I recall my '89 also has some trouble with this 6-7 years ago. It is on there tight. But I recall another issue was that the bolt came out but the rotor adapter was baked in there pretty good after 30 years.
I had to trash/sacrifice the orange suppressor disc. And then gently pry the adapter off.

I think you will be ok using the correct Allen wrench and giving it a little extra umph. Should work. If it breaks you will have to drill it out but I doubt is will break.
If the allen wrench is a bit loose in there, I would get a larger size (7?) and file it down for a tight fit.

You have a Feb '89 or earlier build. Always make sure the cam lobes are in good shape since you are in there. I would recommend taking the dripper off and taking a peek under.
My original '89 had trashed cam lobes and rockers at cylinder 1. Car was well cared for, I know. Had to replace the entire valve train.
My 5th owner '88 is in good shape. Both are in the ~200K mile range.

I would also buy a new dripper from the dealer and use very gentle force on the tiny end screws to install it back. You need locktite (the blue stuff) and not torque it much, just finger tight, perhaps 4 ft-lbs only.

Good luck!
