Mirror Removal

Ok, This is CitronC230K_03, for those who dont recognize me in my costume for holloween. Anyhow, sooner admin gets me back into my login, the better. So in the mean time Ivbe been working on this liitle drawing to help people out. I was gettin like 3-5 emails a day asking how to remove the mirrors. Well I would have to type something up, attach pics, it got old fast. So, I made this. Granted these are all the pics I had left of my old mirrors so i made the best of this situation. Don't laugh either cause im not a very good artist. So i hope they come in handy.

no if you have electronic folding mirrors, then, fold them in, look in the space for the silver clip. located on picture 3, there is a view of elec. folding mirrors, and non elec folding mirrors. once you see where the clip is, pull it in. on my electric folding mirrors, i had to remove the mirror glass before i could slide the housing off.

Hey man, how about getting me some high quality pictures and writing this up and putting it on my website. Let me know what you think?

I will do the art on the photo's if you will review the document and suggest changes like Sunil and I did.

That's cool. I have to finish my fuel level sensor replacement doc, oil change doc, etc. So I am in no hurry.

Once we get the brake doc finished and the fuel level sensor, I am going to start the heated front seat install.

this may sound like an absurd question. but whats the point of removing the mirror... is there certain access to certain wires in the car we cannot reach or something?

this isnt a joke post. im really wondering why?

if 01-04 W203 owners want to exchange the indicators for 05 or W211 type, you will need to remove the housing. if 05 owners want to exchange indicators with W211 type, you will need to remove the housing. if any W203 owner want to put on electronic folding mirrors you will need to remove housing. alos it makes it easier to install convex mirrors by removing the housing.

Sounds good to me!! I think that would be wonderful!!!! Just take a lot of photo's. Even I forget to snap one or two from time to time but you have to snap one at every step and make sure it is in focus. Be sure you don't zoom in too far either.

Sunil is going to help me on the front heated seats, finding part numbers and telling me what to do. My local MB dealer will not look up the part numbers and refuses to believe front heated seats can be added.

Then I am going to do the heated REAR seats, under Sunil's watch. I think that is very cool!

Btw, I just finished the fuel level sensor install , all but for one photograph.

the glass, you have to pull the metal clasp so it unlastches from tge base. then the mirror pulls right off.

HELP!

Aight everybody, hopefully you all can help.

I'm super paranoid about taking off the housing to put in the '05 blinkers I bought from Steve. Does anybody have other pictures of what the mirror area looks like once you remove the housing?

I seriously don't want to accidentally break/remove the wrong thing or push/pull the silver clip the wrong way. Anyways, I hope somebody can help on this.

Thanks.

drex

If these pictures and accompanying instructions did not help - nothing will. Take it to a shop that deals with MB, they will gladly take your money.

Okay Vadim, I'm not incompotent or nothin'. Just being extra careful.

So are you saying that the mirror assembly looks exactly like the pics after the housing is removed?

Only one question (dumb question but...) :

How do we fold the mirrors (not electric folding mirrors)

I tried and searched in the users manual and I'm afraid to break something

I fold them but they don't stay folded???

you have to physically push the mirror back and hold it. it is spring loaded and will snap back if you let it go. a little scarry at first but just keep pushing until you can see inside. DONT LET GO
