Sanf, I am at over 3K miles now, and I have yet to discover the sound you had. The only problem/sound I have is a fairly loud annoying rattle around and behind the radio. I need to make an appt. at the dealer to take a look. Or I may attempt to fix it myself if I can figure out how to get the dash apart

taking out the the radio and stuff is pretty striaght forward. I have done it to test fit a radio kit.

I think mine was just a bad built but i found out that some E or CLS classes got the same sound as well. the sound that i have is in the right rear panel only.

Yes i have a 2005. It was bought by the original owner in August 2005, i think. So its a late model. I usually have my ipod in so it covers the sound a little. I thought i was just being picky, but I'm glad to know that I am not the only one with this problem. I dont know if i should take mine to the dealer or not. My car is under waranty but I'm guessing they won't be able to fix it.

No, I wont try it. I don't trust the dealer doing all that. I'll just deal with it.

2005 C230WZ SS Capri Blue/Ash
Hey jonand, nice ride, and it's been great following this thread from way back when, when you were still waiting for your car to arrive. Great color choice too. I have an 05 Capri Blue, and I get a ton of compliments on the color, especially because here in RI, it's a rare color (got mine from Calif).

Question for you: I saw your link for the door pins you got on eBay, and noticed in the listing's pics that there's a bit of space between the pin and the surround. So I was wondering if yours is like that, and if there's some potentially for the pin rattling around against the surround.

This is a mod I'm thinking of doing, but I was looking more at jerry's aluminum pins (formymercedes dot com). Only problem is he charges $30 for the 4 pins, and then another $30 for the 4 surrounds; a bit high for me. But I think jerry's aluminum ones would better match my aluminum interior vs the chrome ones you got.

Thanks

Yes, there is a little gap between the pins and the surrounds, but they don't rattle at all. I was a little nervous about it at first and went so far as to put some adhesive backed felt on the inside of the surrounds, but couldn't get the pins installed then, as the felt was too thick, and I used 1/32" felt.

I agree on your car the aluminum would match better. I got the chrome for my car because all my trim is chrome not aluminum.

Thanks for the compliments on the car. I absolutely love it, it is my favorite car to date by far

I got the following modifications programmed by Sunil last weekend:
  1. Passenger mirror tilt down in reverse
  2. Easy exit feature added seat movement as well
  3. Passive tire pressure monitor
  4. Tank content in gallons
  5. Key dependency active
  6. Power folding mirrors active (Installing folding mirrors at a later date)
  7. Desert mode active
  8. Speed limiter changed from 210KPH to 250KPH
  9. Service interval changed to 6000 miles
  10. Added 24hr time to clock
  11. Active foglights enabled

Here are some pics:

Fuel tank content. Sorry for the blurry pic.

Passive tire pressure monitor

Service interval set to 6K miles. This is after 400 miles since modification.

Power folding mirror menu.

Passenger mirror tilt down when in reverse.

Key dependency. Allows all seat, mirror, steering column, and radio presets to be key dependent.

Clock 24hr time.

unless you want to get rid of your HID fogs or make them go kaput, active fogs are something you don't need.

Yes, StarDiag can change the limiter. 250KPH is the max though for non-AMG cars. AMG cars can be upped to 310KPH

I checked that it worked on my way home from the Seattle meet I hit 140mph and got really nervous so I brought her back down to a reasonable speed. Amazingly the car felt pretty damn stable at that speed.

+1 Definitely a good way to trash your HID's. As active fogs activate just like the stadium lighting in the car and dim on and off.

Haven't had a chance to drive the car at night yet to see the active fogs in action.

Desert mode is designed to make the A/C more efficient for warmer climates. It kicks on the auxillary fan 10 degrees cooler.

cool! alright, that's it, I missed Steve's last outing, but next time he's here, I'm getting the delimiter removed (not like it'll make that much of a difference for me) and desert mode activated.

New rear Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Season tires installed.

After 21K miles the factory Michelin Pilot Primacy rear tires were shot. Since I live in the NW and drive the car year round, I decided on the Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Seasons as a replacement. I went 1 size up to a 255/40-17. Here are a few shots:

I just did the rears, as the fronts still have 6/32" tread. I have about 1000 miles on these tires so far, and I love them. I hated the Michelin Pilot Primacy's that the car came with, because they went from very quiet to very loud and annoying after only about 3K miles. They handled decent, but the noise was terrible. The new Goodyear Eagles are very quiet. They ride a little firmer than the Michelins, but I prefer that. Their wet traction is unbelievable, and they handle snow pretty well too.

PS: Pics taken with new Nikon D40 DSLR

Car looks great. Did you notice the the extra track width on the rear?

I so wish I could get 21k miles out of rear tires. Seems like I get approx 10-13k out of a set. I'm on Toyo T1R.

E
E, the extra track width was definitely noticeable. The tire is much closer to the inner fenderlip. Also they fill the wheelwell out more. Look at my post #117 above to compare the old vs. new. They are also 1 load service rating higher than the Michelins. Plus, they were $15ea cheaper than the 245/40-17

Those 21K miles are 80-90% highway, as my car is only 10 months old.

I have 29.5k on my 06 and just finally finished off my stock primacy's. They still had tread on the back but not much. I thought I'd never wear them out so I could get rid of them. My fronts are still better than half tread so I saved them.

I went with a full set of michelin alpin's because we get so much snow.
