2007.1 Nav disk issues

I have two cars with 2007.1 Nav disk -- a 2008 E550 and a 2004 E320 wagon. Both are running the latest Comand software. The 04 (but not the 08) will not plot a route where there are HOV lanes. This was reported in earlier posts, but I find it strange that one system shows this error while the other doesn't. Anyone know whether MB is working on a fix? I suppose I could revert to the 04 NAV disk, but it really is out of date, and it means I wasted my money on 2007.1.

Navigation routing issues in time/access restricted areas (i.e.: HOV lanes) using Navigation DVD 2007.1 MBUSA part # BQ6460229.

DTB P-B-82.85/602a released 11/2/07 due to specified lane attribute handling the system may recommend routing that will avoid parts of the highway based on HOV lanes. Navigation DVD 2006.2 MBUSA part # BQ6460223 will be used as a no cost temporary solution until the final remedy is available. An allocation of these temporary solution DVDs will be shipped to dealers from Navteq along with vouchers that must be completed with the customer contact information. In turn, the vouchers will be mailed direct to Navteq who will provide the customer with the latest Navigation database DVD once it becomes available. The customer will be asked to return inoperative DVDs (part # BQ6460229) back to Navteq when receiving the replacement DVD.

*** Be certain to fill out voucher information, as it is the only method for you to receive the newest replacement DVD via Navteq.

Why wouldn't dealers just give you 2007.2 instead of 2006.2? Or does the problem also exist with 2007.2?

The latest one available from the dealer is 2007.1. At least this is what my dealer told me two weeks ago.

Hmmmm,

I thought for sure there was a 2007.2 available. I do shoot a lot of heroin though, so I could be making the whole thing up.

**Edit**

I just realized that I was confusing 2007.2 and 2006.2. I'm a tard.

Konigs...

This problem with the 2007.1 disk....

Is there anything that determines what cars will have this problem with this disk? The original poster is only seeing the problem with one of his cars. Is it (bad) luck of the draw or something else. The reason I ask, is have a 2007.1 disk that I'm afraid to install.

I second the question--have an '07 w/ 2006.1. About to update w/ 2006.2 because of concern over the functioning of 2007.1 in my MY.

Jeff, the dealer should handle all this for you under warranty if you experience any problems therefore I would not shy away from updating to the current 2007.1 version.

DTB does not mention what determines the DVD to be faulty. Navteq claims responsibility for the malfunction. Protocol dictates you to install 2007.1 and if you experience any problems, Navteq should supply you with 2006.2 and provide the latest DVD cost free when made available (most likely 2007.2) mailed directly to you at which time you return the loaner 2006.2 DVD.

Conditions: Recommended route may seem illogical or incorrect, route longer than what you are accustomed to with an earlier version DVD, and local roads throughout entire route.

Areas: Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C. – Baltimore, Boston, Denver, Memphis, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Charlotte, Eastern NY, Miami, Nashville, Portland, Seattle, Virginia Beach – Norfolk, Connecticut, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Sacramento, Southern CA; Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

With apologies for any confusion my original post may have caused, I can now confirm that my 08 E550 came with nav 2006.2 -- strangely not 2007.1, which explains why the 04 E320 with 2007.1 presents the routing problems and the 08 does not. I incorrectly assumed that a car delivered in August 07 must have had 07 software. So now I think we can safely conclude that 2007.1 is defective regardless of the year of build of the car or the sofware in the Comand system. Its just plain defective. I am waiting for the 2006.2 fix from the dealer from whom I bought the 2007.1 DVD.

Let this be a lesson to anyone taking delivery of a new vehicle, have the sales person eject the DVD in the navigation drive and confirm it matches the current version reported here on the forum(s) at the time. Repeatedly I am reading that the dealer is skipping key checks per MBUSA mandated PDI (pre-delivery inspection). For the record, 2007.1 was released JUL07.

At any rate, you should be entitled to two cost free updates from Navteq. MY04 defective 2007.1, MY08 2006.2 given that should have been 2007.1 therefore allowing for an update.

2004 E55
Can someone help? I have this exact problem described above. I have a 2007.1 NAV DVD on an 04 E55 and the brought it to the dealer for resolution. The Service advisor first called me and told me that he never heard of the problem and was not going to fix. I emailed him the DTB and the link to this thread. He then calls me back and tells me that the DTB only covers vehicle model years 2007 and greater. I explained to him the problem that exists with the DVD, not the car, but he told me MB would not cover it.

Any advice?

MB sold you the disk, you can't get them anywhere else. Its defective. It needs to be replaced. Call MBUSA & tell them what you feel.

how to get this fixed

Well, after much aggravation, I think I will get this thing fixed. The service manager at the dealership states that the DTB is only for MY07 vehicles, but the problem is obviously with the DVD. I ended up calling MB HQ, who said to go back to the dealer and they would try and get them to follow the bulletin. They also gave me the number to Navteq (1-866-624-2627). I called them and the woman I spoke (Ashley) acknowledged the problem, and is calling the SM to tell him to give me an older DVD and the voucher.

Special thanks to konigstiger for the post, and the advice.

FYI...I just called Navteq to find out when the 2007.2 DVD would be released and they told me that they released it the end of December, however, it is still having the same problem with HOV highways on 2004 vehicles only. They are trying to figure out if a hardware update will fix the problem.

The new disk is available at the dealers, and fixes the problem. I got mine today.
