OT - Anyone know of a C6 Z06 vs E55 on 5N?
Just curious if anyone knows of the Z06 this morning at about 7:30 on the 5N between SD and OC. There were a few straggling cars (subaru and 335i), but playing with the Z06 was fun.
Dunno if we'll ever find him, so I won't boast too much before we do. Please hit up your vette boards and ask. Needless to say, the best held her end well. I didn't think the Z06s were that slow.

I didn't know that. What kinda power do they have, then? I thought they were slightly faster than the E55. I also posted somewhere about a silver Viper SRT10 that I swallowed up a few weeks back. The guy in the vette could drive and he had all the perfect color accents, so I know he is an enthusiast. I just hope Roj is listening, since I know he has been hanging out at the Vette forums.

What mods do you have? A stock E55 won't take a stock Z06. The Z06 has 505HP and considerably less weight. An E55 vs. a standard C6 (08) is pretty close as the C6 has 436hp.
I should know. Mine sit next to each other in the garage (08 C6 Convertible -- 436hp).

That is about what i thought. I figured a stock E55 was between the C6 and the Z06. The mods I have are:
K&N Filters
VRP Pulley
VRP Tune
VRP 80mm TB
adding as we speak:
VRP Airbox
VRP new Headers

Jangy,
I hate to burst your bubble but a "well drive" C6 ZO6 is going to walk any non-nitrous E55...... modified or not.
A well driven stock ZO6 is a 11.0 - 11.6sec @ 125-128mph car. A well driven and modified (non-nitrous) E55 is a 11.3-11.9sec @ 120-123mph car.
The difference (that you may have experienced) is that a bad driver can have a difficult time making ZO6 go fast. This does not tend to be as much of a problem when driving the E55.

Hey Rock, I don't get it. What do you mean by knowing how? I know he was trying, so that aside are they all manuals, or something? We were going in a straigh line and just doing repeated blasts. We were playing for over 40 miles, seems like he would get one good run in. It got so bad that I would WAIT and let him take off first and just WALK him down.
I dunno, and I'm sure I'll come accross enough Z06s to figure this out, but I think you may want to revisit your numbers on a Vadim tuned E55? I have never seen an E55 pull at the top like this tune does and I think that is what makes the difference.
Anyhow, anone here have a Z06? Looks like we need ricker to round us up some rides.

Sweet, but that means you are modded, no? Did you do pre-post mod dynos? Have you run E55s? I'm curious what is going on. I should be good and ready by this coming weekend. I'm expecting around 500 to the wheel. Do you go to any tracks? I'm down to play!!

Well a good while back there were vids of apprent stock ZO6's walking a rentech stage 5 member on this board.
My understanding is Zo6 and 997 TT are pretty close.
As to the E55 beating a C6 hmm can not really say because i have raced 4 and all had different outcomes most likyl all modded and all claiming to be stock
have not tried ZO6, but a ZO6 getting walked by just pulley/tune/80 mmTB is the first i have heard off!

soo going by results of a few is not really the ultimate trouth but can give you pointers.
My experience is C6 is a handful and can not be taken lightly, let alone a Zo6

I also have a heavily modded E55. I have also spent a lot of time with a C6 ZO6. I can tell you that the ZO6 is really, really quick!! I would give the edge to the ZO6...
I know that there may be vids out there showing the ZO6 is not what people say. I tell those folks to try the ZO6 out for themselves!!

Wow you did?
The stock C6 Z06 dynos out at 470ish rwhp(They have very less drivetrain hp lost), AND they are ~1,000lbs lighter than us.
Good job Jangster!

Jangy, I did check my facts and stock ZO6's are faster than modified E55 (minus nitrous). Go to Dragtimes and do a compare.
I did not see any VRP cars listed, so please either get to the track or post some videos of your escapades.

Should hit the nines when it's setup for the track (rollcage).

I hear ya Rock. I kinda stopped driving around with the camera because of the guff I got on here, but I know I have no proof.
Is there a chance that street racing is different than dragtimes? Just a thought.
VRP will be representing at the next track event.
I hear all of you that tout the Z06. Actually, I love the car myself. I'm just telling you the truth and this was not the first C6 I've come accross and they are now NOTHING.
If you say that the Z06 puts 475 to the floor, then why would it be so hard to believe that I took him if I may have 500 to the floor?
To the one that listed all my mods and said nah, I say look back into what the mods are supposed to do. I have always argued that the tune is the KEY in getting it all together. Now, all the dynos for the ASP are showing it, too. That is exactly why a RT stage 5 would get spanked.
Hey psu... since you are close, lets hook up in a week or so at the Q for some 1/8th mile comparisons. Maybe even go for a ride and swap cars?
