I have a 2017 Mercedes e300 (w213) and I cant get into Engineering Mode!? (I want to activate the Mirror link from my phone to the screen)

Some people say only dealers can unlock it the first time?


I tried holding down on the System icon with key pad and/or roller for 10 secs or more, did not work! If I do the same for Vehicle icon it pulls up a dealer menu but no Engineering Mode!

Anyone know how to do this? I don't want to take this to the Stealers! Thanks in advance!!!

You could have searched this forum to answer your questions. You should search before asking a question.
However, I'll save you the effort. Engineering mode first must be enabled via Xentry. An OBD tool won't work. Link to 2017 post

The bottom line is that a dealer will NOT enable engineering mode. An indy shop with access to the equipment and software may do it.

Mirrorlink onto Mercedes language doesn't mean that your phone will be mirrored into the car display.

Yes it works friend of mine did it, 2018 e300 , it was unlocked already and he got into engineering mode and then turned on mirror link!

It works I saw it, whatever is on your phone will be broadcasted on your MB screen even you tube!

So that's what I want, but can only be turned on by engineering mode.

Hard to believe a dealer or Xentry would have to be used for EM! I was able to enter EM on all my other past and present Mercedes!

Sadly is not like that and you can Google about Mercedes Mirrorlink.

You will find something about an old Sony protocol much more limited than Carplay or Android Auto.

You're mistaken about mirroring.

At Mercedes is everything about safety so keeping the phone fingering while driving is very bad idea.

Telling you my friend has it, saw it!! He did nothing special, just got in EM and it works while driving- he watches YouTube while driving!

Using some Italian app over Carplay or Android Auto. Nothing related with the Mercedes Mirrorlink.

Again hes lives in the USA, did nothing extra, just turned in on in EM, that's it!

Just got off the phone with him to ask...

He said some models are locked and some are not in the newer Benz's- like the w213.

Also there are 3rd party apps sometimes APK that will let you mirror-link with android auto! ;-)

Why would Mercedes go to the trouble of having mirror-link which cost $$, for us not to access it? Makes no sense! ;-)

Regulations vary between jurisdictions. North America, especially the US, are very strict. It took years before the US allowed other than sealed beam (round) headlights.

All I know it works for some people with nothing special, he just tuned it on in EM and that's it! My friend is in California.

Not trying to be difficult here, but Massimo Here's tone throughout these posts is remarkably similar to my 11 year old grandson's. So I can fully understand what's going on here, Massimo Here, would you be able to take a picture of the exterior and interior of your Mercedes?

I haven't tried it in my 2017 E400 wagon and probably won't.

Whatever you do, do not hit system reset from that menu, it wipes everything including all the camera calibration, all safety systems and assist system basically returns the car to bare bone stock without any options equipped.
