E55 Wagon: Production Numbers Confirmed!
Just rec'd an email from MBUSA in response to my enquiry about actual production and sales numbers on the 2005 E55 Wagon. Interesting that they did NOT respond to my question regarding production of the E55 wagon for 2006...

Thank you for your internet inquiry. Currently there has been less than 100
of the 2005 E55 AMG Wagon sold in the United States. We expect the year-
end total to remain less than 200 units.
If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to e-mail us again
or call us at 1-800-FOR-MERCedes (1-800-367-6372).

Please help with the following.
I recently purchased a 2005 E55 wagon. This is truly a fantastic automobile
-- it would have to be to cause me to cancel my order for a Porsche 911 --
but I am wondering:
1.) How many of these cars were produced for the US market in 2005?
2.) Has the car been approved for production in 2006?
Thanks for satisfying my curiosity (in advance)...

Interesting, an average of 2 per state! So there are probably 10 driving around in the LA area. Definitely something you won't see every day if you own one. You lucky owners really have something special. And rare!

My next task is to totally debadge the car, though I might leave the Kompressor emblems on the side. I ordered "W211E55" personalized tags just to let the informed know it's the real thing...

The 4 exhausts give it away I guess. I hardly ever see any E-wagons, let alone the 55. So far not a single live encounter...
The best part is that you're in some "normal" station wagon and the tuned civic department thinks it can smoke you. Then the "soccer mom" pulls away leaving nothing but confusion! Hehe

I really surprised an unsuspecting Porsche 997/911S the other day; he came up behind me on a long right-hand sweeper and expected to blow past me... [insert evil cackle here]

I drive a E55T, SLK55 and 65 Mustang Conv.
Hi all,
They told Wolf when he did the AMG challenge there would be a max of 172 wagons sold in the US this year so your letter conforms what they thought. I have yet to run into another one but Wolf went by Al & Ed's Autosound in Sherman Oaks, CA and they had a silver one on the lift and he was driving mine. The other belongs to Seal & Heidi Klum.

So far the only other E55 wagons I've seen were on the dealer's lot. For some bizarre reason he had four in stock. I have yet to see another one since I've owned the car. It's odd, but my wife and I have two of the rarest non-exotic cars you're likely to find -- the E55 wagon and a VW Phaeton (a seriously great car that has been well-hidden by VW)...

There was a website with production numbers for all AMG models (I cannot find it right now...) and the number I remember for 2005 E55 wagons is 169. Still a low number....

Don't think so. Usually a VIN only means where the car is sequenced in and among all like models, in this case all the other E class variants. Unlikely MBZ or any other manufacturer will build like models in sequence as to number them 1 of X?. MBZ could likely tell you what number any version is but again is unlikely to do so b/c of associated costs (i.e., every enthusiast out there would want to know where their car fell throughout the production and which number it is......

thanks. I just got an E55 wagon and am so freaking pumped. I wanted one since they were released. Before we bought a GL I tried to convince the wife to drive the E55 instead but no dice.
