Or weight without tires of 18" stock wheels?? Been looking everywhere for that info.

A lot of people buying lighter wheels but how can you tell when you don't know the original weight?

Please post if you know!

Thanks =)

but, these 18" AMG wheels are "light" alloys, per MB. The older cast wheels by MB, are definitely heavier.

So what do you say? Between 25 and 27 considering they are possibly lighter thank you 17" (but also bigger)? If anyone has an exact number or one of these wheels hanging around that would be very useful!

For me, lighter wheels is one the best modification you can do to a car. It improves mileage, acceleration and braking response.

On my current car I went from 20lbs 17" to 10lbs 15". Night an day. Literrally dropped half a second on the 1/4 mile between the 2. But then my car didn't have 400 pounds of torque. I don't know if it makes as much of a difference at this level with that much power (or maybe more, no idea). Guess we need an engineer.

thanks!

Rear stock 18 inch rim is exactly 25 lbs. I just measured my spare in my garage.

Usually reduction of below suspention is said its same as 6 times of weight reduction above suspention. It is that important to get light wheels. You really can feel it. Like Chief63 said you can cut on time on all kinds of things. The car well fell quick, handle great, stop great, etc you really can good things.

25 lbs is OK. For the OE size rear I would consider under 20 super-light, 21-23 light, 24-26 avg and above that heavy.

You rule!

Thanks for the precious info I'm sure this will be useful for many others.

If we do a little math, rear wheels are 9.0in X 18 and front are 8.5in X 18.

So between the 2, the rear wheels are 5.88% bigger so front wheel wheight should be 23.5 pounds (23.53 exactly).

So here are full wheel specs for the stock 18 inch rims that I have so far:

Front: 235/40R18 with 8.5x18 wheel with 45mm offset 23.5 pounds
Rear : 255/35R18 with 9.0x18 wheel with 54mm offset 25.0 pounds

Bolt pattern: 5 x 112 mm

Take care.
