Angry I am getting no fuel.... Car will not start!!!

So Monday i severely topped off my tank while refueling. Tuesday evening after i came from work... car refused to start(code was "evap huge system leak"... it finally started after 10 minutes... the same thing has happened to wednesday and thursday.. so I figured i would take the car to my Indy to get it checked out. However car will not start at all now. No fuel is coming out of the fuel check valve(i was getting fuel out of the check valve 2days ago).... Ive been reading up on the purge control valve and the cannister, but still dont know what could it be...maybe ecu locked off fuel? fuel pump? Has this ever happened to anyone???? HELP!!!

Happened to me while I was driving - I think it was the purge valve but I'm not sure - know it definitely was not the fuel pump (no fuel was getting to the engine). Cost about 2000.00 to fix (but warranty took care of it).

I know this sounds stupid but have you removed and reinstalled the gas cap since the fill up?

randomly - I never top off my tank - first click I pull it - and then usually refill when I'm down to 1/4 tank.

I had this happen to me on the freeway, car spluttered and iwas able to pull of the freeway on to a side road. Car was flatbedded to the dealership. Fuel level sensor and filter were replaced on the drivers side tank. Drove it 3 days and same thin happened so flatbedded it back to the dealership and this time it was the pump on the passenger side that had failed.

Ok, there is another place to check. Just take out the rear wheel from the passenger side, then take out the plastic cover that protect the area there, you will see big black cylinder, just check that the hoses are fine and you have none of them un plugged and you may want to check that stupid cylinder too

They DRILLED that into my head when buying the car. Don't fill past first click. Sheesh, now I know why.

Hope you get it worked out.

Just grasping at straws but maybe blown fuse?

This just happened to me 2 days ago. It was ok the night before when I drove home and it just crank but couldn't start at all the other morning.

So I have the fuel pump and crank position sensor changed, still couldn't start. Then the garage checked that there is no electricity going to the fuel pump wire, so we then check out the fuse, and it ok. Its up to the relay now and found out the the fuel pump relay socket melted so there is nothing going to the fuel pump and thus no fuel to the engine.

I am waiting for the socket to arrive and I am driving it with all wires temporarily connected to the melted socket.

Have you check the batteries? Sometimes it is the cause of that problem.

GUYS THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPEN TO ME!!!!! I needed to change passenger side fuel pump, because I detected a fuel leak.... still no start.... put in a crank sensor (my friend had a new one just sitting around)....still no start...... found the fuel pump relay by the air tank in the trunk passenger side...... melted.....F'IN MELTED......... swapped relays.. and all is GOOD....
just like edmond, im going to the dealer to order the relay socket....and will more than likely have to wait.....

Glad you got it resolved. When you get the new relay can you post some pics of it and it's location? Thanks!

TopEndS62:

This happened to my 2nd E55 a few years ago.

It has also happened to other members here too.

The problem was a loose electrical wire on the fuel pump. Yes, a loose wire on the fuel pump. It took a couple days for MBZ service to find the problem.

Have them look at this potential problem.

Good luck!

Phil
