Intercooler pump dead - DIY?

So after running a pitiful 12.2 at the track last night, skratch77 informed me I probably have a blown ic pump. I have a mechanic friend who has worked on my vws and audis for years. Is this something fairly simple to do? Is there a DIY posted anywhere? I was thinking of ordering the pump from parts.com ... Are they selling the latest and greatest revision? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

do a search there are a few trhreads on doing this -- It is a simple job -- any mechanic can do it --- even DIYers can do it -- Difficult part is taking off the bumper - after that its pretty simple -- take out pump and put new pump in..

no need to remove the bumper. just remove the air guide under the front bumper and you will be able to get to the ic pump.

and i wouldnt buy a OEM pump to replace it --You should weigh your options -- maybe you want to upgrade.

I run the updated bosch pump and haven't had any problems.

You could run the Johnson CM30 or the CM90 as a upgraded unit.

I am honestly going to forgo the norm with upgrading pumps and heat exchangers and just run meth/water injection.

Seems like the most effective way to lower IAT's and it's roughly the same cost.

Before you do anything, have you logged your IAT temps? A scan tool/logger should be anyone's first purchase.

You mentioned ET, what was your MPH? How did it compare with skratch?

My IAT was well over 150 at idle. Skratch trapped 5 mph more consistently even tho my ETs were quicker...

MPH is a better indicator of a bad pump. Having read that, I agree, sounds like a bad pump.

Def a bad pump he was at 145 idle while I was 95.or my stock pulley car is faster than a k4 lol

Robby you got a better et because of my mickey thompson drag radials you were running.

Once you get a new pump you will trap at least 8-10 mph faster
