W212 Auto Trunk Closer problem

I just got my new W212 with trunk closer, and I just noticed that there is approx 3 mm gap after the trunk is closed. See photos below. I must have missed it during the pickup (too excited).

This problem also causes the 2 parts of the taillights to misalign by approx 2-3 mm. I did try to adjust the stopper screw and but didn't make any difference. Any idea if this could be easily fixed?

No worries. That's got to be an easy one for your dealer to take care of on a while-you-wait basis.

Thanks guys. Do you know if the trunk problem problem is casued by the auto trunk closer or something else?

I did some research on the internet and found similar problem on other mercedes models, and it seems to be either related to the pump or sensor.

Hi konigstiger, thanks for the gap data. Where did you get that?

I did a quick inspection on my car and found some problems around the rear end. See the larger gap between the lower bumper plastic panel and the upper panel near the taillight? It seems like the lower plastic panel was mounted 2 mm too much towards the rear end. See photos below.

Does this seems like something that the dealer could easily fix? So should I live with it? I am afraid that the dealer would mess it up even more, since mercedes could not get it done right at the factory.

Jeez, that sucks. You expect panel alignment to be flawless on this car, and it's unfortunate that yours seems to be off in more than one area.

That Panel Gap PDF is crazy! I didn't even know that things like that existed.

Curious to see if you can get any this taken care of, as I can imagine a Dealer trying to get out of it, or saying they don't notice it/"it's normal", etc. The trunk should be a cinch, but the bumper alignment could be an issue.

Mb cars cost about 3 times here than in the states, so I basically paid around $140k for the e250. It is quite disappointing because my rear end looks like it has been hit and repaired. It only has 200 miles on it as of now. This is my 3rd E class and from my experience, I would avoid bringing my car to the dealer because most of the time, I had to leave it there for several days and the interior is always full of greasy fingerprints when I get car back. Really difficult to clean, especially with w211 carpet wrapped interiors.

I can probably live with the rear bumper panel, but the trunk gap is killing me. My taillights are not aligned and it is just really difficult to accept that. Every time I see another w212 on the street, I kept checking if the trunks were off too

Does anyone know any easy way to fix the auto trunk closer issue? Like resetting the electronics or something like that?

This is an easy fix. Take it back to the dealer for adjustment. If the car comes back to you with grease smudges, it's time to change dealers. That is unacceptable. My dealer always washes and vacuums my car every time it goes in for service. The seats and floor are covered before tech gets in the car.

Bumper should be easy adjustment 2 brackets to rear (120), 1 left & right (270).

Are you referring to the auto thunk closer ?

Al the local dealers are the same. They did wash the car, but not as clean as detailing shops.

Thanks. Do you happen to have the exploded view of the auto trunk closer?

Actually I am more worried that they would mess it up even further. I hope I can find an easy way to fix the trunk problem myself.
