I'm just curious to know what tune you guys are using. Comments about how you like the tune are welcome.
Post up some actual performance numbers you achieved at a drag strip if you have some time slips.
Actual dyno results after your tune would be nice to see also.

You didnt have an option for where Im at...
I dont run a tune because Im not sure if I want one yet. Price is not an issue.
But Ill tell you this, dynos are all over the place from different vendors here and elsewhere and to me its just a piece of paper or a screen shot... same as what we see in the E55 forum. The faster cars are not always the best on paper. I like dynos for before and after gains (thru the curve and not so much peak)on the same day and same dyno but I was not a fly on the wall for these tests so I have no idea how legit they are. With that being said, I have no doubt that a tune does give this car much more power.
Conditions, dynos, roller weight, manipulation, types of fuel, etc... all play a role in numbers. Ill judge a tune with there is enough sampling and I see some real life street races from a roll.
Personally I have always had OE tunes on all my cars--- alot of cars and alot of tunes on each car (upgrades) and have always been very satisfied. It may not be the most "ceiling pushed" tune but I like to run a little more on the safe side when tuning a 100k plus car.

All good info Vic and I agree on the dyno thing, but "real life street races" don't tell us much either. This is why I would love to see some time slips from a drag strip. From that I can pretty accurately calculate how much wheel HP the car is making.
I do plan on tuning my car in the near future. I will provide you guys with both a base line stock dyno and time slips from the track and will do it all over again after the tune. You guys can count on no BS from me... just good honest results.
I just got word from my dealer that my car will be delivered today and I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow around lunch time. Needless to say I'm stoked

I have the Singh/ECU tuning group. I took my car to an independent dyno on my own expense to see the gains. I'm happy with the tune and will always do my own dyno without the tuner being there. Dyno was done at MD automotive in Westminster..they also dyno for Edmunds.com. Funny is i keep seeing my dyno sheet posted on different tuner thread!

Great info, thanks for sharing. Very smart to get your own independent dyno done to verify results. I'll be doing the same thing

What an exciting day for me today. I picked up my new 63 today around 1 pm. From there I went straight to a tuner I use in Lafayette, LA and he strapped it on the dyno for me. I told him I was going to bring it back next week after the tune and he looked at me like I was crazy and told me "let me tune it" He went on to tell me that my car had some kind of med 17 ecu and he tunes a lot of them. I was real skeptical of this until he told me that he's using a tune from a German engineer and it makes 670 crank HP and 735 TQ. This is the same HP ratings I see from other tuners. He assured me that everyone was using close to the same tune.
What really sold me on this was his price of only $2000
And for that price he would dyno the car for me after the tune free of charge. Who am I to argue? I've got an appointment scheduled next week
He said he prefers to do them hot off the car as the ECU comes in hot and it helps him pry the casing open easier.
So anyway, below are the results of my stock dyno pulls. We made three pulls. In no means do I think these numbers are comparable to other dyno's as we all know numbers from any given dyno can vary, but these are going to serve as good base line numbers for my before/after tuning results.
Smoothing was set to 5 on the dyno charts below.
I'll keep you guys posted next week once he does the tune for me.

Here's a couple of videos I just uploaded of the dyno pulls.
Note: Smoothing was set on 2 or 3 when the graphs were shown on video.
I had him chance smoothing to "5" before saving the graphs for me to provide us with more accurate/conservative numbers.

Sweeeeet ride- you moved quickly to the dyno!!!
FYI- those ECU's are glued tight and if the cover and the board are not removed with the utmost of care; flexing can occur and this could render your ECU in a dead state. Just some rumors I have heard about.

Thanks for the tip on the ECU. I'll be standing over him while he does my ECU to make sure the utmost care is taken when he splits the cases.
I'm looking forward to getting it done and you guys will be the first to hear about the results

Thanks very much my friend! Yea man, how many people leave the dealer and go straight to the dyno? I think I'm the only fool

My tuner emailed me Thursday and asked me to come in Friday so that he could do the tune. It was a real straight forward process. He had the ECU off the car in less than a minute and then he opened it up, connected a wire to some sort of boot pin and hooked up his programming equipment. In 20 minutes it was done. The power difference is INCREDIBLE!
I've modded a lot of cars in my day but this is the best $2000 i have EVER spent. I just made a little acceleration video down in Mexico for you guys to check out

I'll bring the car back next week to dyno it and he has yet another tune that he would like to upload to the ECU that's said to make even more power. I'll keep you guys posted!

I didnt get the upgraded LSD option from the dealer, so I didnt know if one is needed with a tune.
