Help needed for steering wheel upgrade
New steering wheel installed on 2008 C300 Sport 4matic. The wheel is beautiful in black ash wood and leather combination.
Every control switch is working except shift peddles. Problem is control switches function correctly but they do not illuminate when headlight is on...
I did not install it but my mechanic did. It seems like easy 15 minute job but what am I missing here???
Do I need steering wheel column module which some members mentioned in the previous posts? If that is the case, what is the part number and how hard it is to install it?
Since I got it from an independent party not from a dealership, I do not want to go to my dealer to troubleshoot...
Finally, am I at risk of any major warranty void from this upgrade?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Nice looking wheel, but I believe you're not going to be able to get the paddles to work... unless you change out the harness interface and install a new column module and can find access to STAR recoding.
Good luck... keep us posted.

I do not really care about working shifter paddles. My major concern is how to light up control switches and whether it involves replacing steering wheel control column...

I was not a big fan of wood wheel but this one is quite nice. Dark ash blends well with black interior of vehicle and thicker wheel also gives me much better feel.
I only wish illumination problem can be resolved soon. Once everything settles well, I can give contact info for the wheel to whoever interested in it.

I might be wrong but as far as I know US version does not come with memory seat option for 2008 C class. Anybody confirm with that please?

Thanks! Anybody knows best place to get this part with the cheapest cost?

Memory seat comes with leather package. It will be the M 1 2 3 buttons on the driver door next to the seat adjustment buttons.

Ok, I tried mbzwholesaleparts.com but apparently they do not carry the part I am looking for.
I need 2012 E-class steering wheel column cover with following part number, A212 900 7502 with trailing black color code 9051. (A212 900 7502 - 9051).
For anyone who will do steering wheel upgrade, you need this part for the control switch button lighting up (with memory seat, there is a slight different part number).
Can anyone here help me to get this part with better rate than stealership?
Happy new year and all the best to all forum members...

An update regarding my paddle issue:
I went to DCT motorsports and Ivan gave me a big help and sort this issue out
While examining my paddles and the other working paddles that DCT motorsport have, we found that my paddles (in Carbon Fiber) have different part number than the working one. CF paddles were the type for 2008-2011 steering wheels, so it has different wire termination than the paddles (silver) for 2012 steering wheel. The paddles has two cables (yellow and black), and the difference between the two models was they were in opposite side.
So we flipped the termination (black to yellow, and yellow to black), and it worked perfectly (what it's in the photo is the right termination).
Long story short, if the paddles were from the older model (2008-2011) and will be connected to 2012 steering wheel, the termination of the paddles cable need to be changed/flipped.
Big thanx to Ivan from DCT motorsports for his talent and help.
