2012 ML63 in Pearl Beige - Just Missed It

This is a long shot but . . . I am wondering if the person who just bought the Pearl Beige over Porcelain ML63 from N. Palm Beach MB is a member of this board?? If so, I would love to see pictures of your new car.

I saw that ML63 pop up as "newly listed" over the weekend and called on it this afternoon. The dealer said it was out for a test drive when I called so he couldn't send any pictures. I was thinking - yeah, sure, until he called back saying it was SOLD . . .

I have not seen another Pearl Beige ML63 pop-up and wonder if any others have been sold in the U.S? Probably not, as there may only be two of us in the U.S. (the person who bought that ML63 and me) who would be interested in one that color . . .

Anyone . . . Bueller . . . . Anyone . . .

Another Pearl Beige ML63 popped up at a Chicago area dealer but that too was sold before I could see it. Any chance that new owner is a forum member and could post some photos???

Is it not possible to just order one in Pearl Beige or the wait time is too long?

Isn't there some stock photo floating around?

Yep - Not a 63, but right color.

Justthebest and XXGenericsXX:

Both of you asked good questions. While I can see photos of ML350s in Pearl Beige on cars.com, I am particularly curious to see it in full AMG form.

I am planning to order a GL63 and seeing an ML63 in that color is as close as I will likely get to trying to visualize what the GL63 would look like in that color.

And while I still think the new ML350 is a little soft looking for my taste, I have really warmed up to looks of the new ML63. The larger wheels combined with the more aggressive body work really make a huge difference for me. If I didn't need three rows, I would be very happy with (and very lucky to have) an ML63 - probably also in Pearl Beige. So apart from my interest from a GL63 perspective, I think it would be cool to see the ML63 in that color. While I am talking about colors, I would also love to see it in Dakota Brown, even though I am not planning to order a GL63 in that color. I have seen real life photos of the new ML63 in black, white, silver, palladium silver and steel grey but not those other colors (and not the now defunct Capri Blue for that matter). While these questions may only be of interest to me, I know there are at least two (and probably only two) Pearl Beige ML63s but wonder if there are any in Dakota Brown. Obviously, that is not up there with questions like "how do we find peace in the Middle East" but I guess that's what forums like this are helpful with . . .

Kind regards

I see where you're coming from now. Had I not gotten the R63 it would be the GL63 as well. The color choices that intrigue me the most are Dakota Brown, Cinnibar Red, and Diamond White. I've seen the Dakota Brown on a few ML350s in person and it's a very handsome color. The red color is new for 2013 and as a result I haven't seen any yet. Diamond white is pretty but I'm afraid the color is too common. So I applaud you for going after something different as I find regular black, arctic white, and silver cars are very boring.

I hope you're getting an interestingly colored Designo interior as well.
If only they offered Desifno exterior colors for the ML and GL and then you could get something really unique.

XXGenericSNXX:

Thanks for your comments. I agree that black, white and silver are too common on AMGs, but then again I can understand why as the cars look great in those colors and they are the safest (i.e., resale) choice. I had black, silver and grey cars before, but I guess I have entered a "colorful" phase, as evidenced by my Quartz Blue E63. Spotting a Pearl Beige or even Dakota Brown ML63 (and then a similarly colored GL63) will almost be as rare as spotting an R63 in the wild. One of the great things about your R63 is that it is so rare that no color is too boring. I like how you described the Majestic Black as it sounds like a unique take on the standard black.

By the way, I have only ever seen three R63s in person and can remember each one. One silver on black in Chicago (which I saw twice parking in the same downtown building so must be the same car), one silver on black in Manhattan and one silver on black at an MB Dealership in Southern Conn in 2010. It could even be that the silver one I saw in Manhattan and in Conn were the same cars.

Kind regards

The Quartz Blue E63 sounds wonderful. Just saw an E350 (or maybe 550) in that same color the other day and commented on how unique and nice it looks. I believe in Europe that color is called Indigolith Blue.

I find Mercedes-Benz makes some really interesting black tone colors. Our S500 is Black Opal which was the predecessor color to Majestic Black. Black Opal is black in the dark and a blue green in the sun. After Majestic Black came Magnetite Black which again is black in the dark and more of a gray tone with hints of blue and green flecks in the sun.

Yes the conservative colors are good for resale and if you plan on changing often then that's something to take into account. We hold onto our cars until they essentially die so why not just get something you want since you're going to be the one living with it? The CLK on the other hand is Brilliant Silver and extremely boring. You can blame that on being an off the showroom floor model. The ML is Azure Blue and is a metallic blue which turns purple in the sun. I really like that color.

On this same note, Obsidian Black Metallic which is available on the W166 ML is a really beautiful color. My uncle has it on his W211 E and when it's clean it looks great in the sun. Again, black in the dark, and a dark green in the sun.

Obsidian Black, Black Opal, Majestic Black, and I suppose Magnetite Black are all very hard to keep clean. I find that after I wash the R and drive it immediately on a perfectly clear day, it's already got a layer of dust on it by the end of the day.

I just poked my head over to the MB configurator and was surprised at how "safe" the color palette is for the W166 ML. So many grays, two black choices, and two whites. I don't blame you then for looking at the Pearl Beige and Dakota Brown. IMO the Pearl Beige is more of an "old person's" color for non sporty Benzes. I don't ever recall seeing that on a go fast Benz, so maybe you'll be the first one! Not to say I don't like the color, but it doesn't seem sporty to me. So maybe I need to see real pictures first, and like you, they seem impossible to come by.

BTW press photo of Cinnibar Red: http://www.benzblogger.com/wp-conten...nnibar-Red.jpg Excited to see it in real life.

Like I said hopefully we'll see some Designo exterior paints because today I saw Magno Alanite Gray (matte medium gray) on a W212 E and it looks wonderful. Definitely something unique.

You really know your colors! Mercedes sure does offer a variety of shades of black. You can also add to your list Designo Mocha Black (a brownish black) and Platinum Black (with some silver sparkles).

I had to look up a picture of a Mercedes with Azure Blue - I think that is a cool color. It does not seem as dark as Capri Blue, which is being phased out for Lunar Blue which seems a little lighter.

Unfortunately, I don't think we will see any Designo color options on the new ML or GL as I believe the U.S. plants where they are made are not set up to offer Designo colors. So if I want to be different, it would be Pearl Beige, Dakota Brown or Cinnibar Red. I appreciate your comment that the Pearl Beige is more of an "old person" color, but I like the idea of the combination of the hard AMG version and the softer color. I have also always had a soft spot for the right champaign color. If I had been lucky enough to order an R63 back in 2007 (couldn't afford it then), I would have gone with Pewter first and Barolo Red second.

I like Dakota Brown as well, but I have a Cocoa metallic Enclave right now (brown) and I may want something different and I actually like the Enclave's brown slightly more than the Dakota Brown (which I have seen in person on a GL450). I will be curious to see photos of the Red, as that one photo is not enough.

I keep hoping someone with a Pearl Beige or Dakota Brown ML63 will pick this thread up and post a picture, but that may be wishful thinking. Thanks for the bump!

Kind regards

I bet red would look stunning. I'd wager you'd be 1 of 1 in the USA if you went Cinnibar.

While it may be true that the factory can't do Designo paints, the W163 was offered in a few Designo packages which included special paints. I recall a green and Bourdeaux Red (not the official name) version- but then again that was back then and this is now.

I really like the Cocoa color on the Enclave, nice choice!

Saw an R63 in Cubanite Silver a few weeks ago- it was okay for me personally. My favorite color on the R is Alpine Rain, a light blue metallic which sort of looks silver. Only know of one R63, in Vancouver BC, in that color. I also wouldn't mind Jade Green because I don't know of any R63s in existence in that color- then again same goes for Majestic Black, so I'm a happy camper. We asked the dealer back in 07 if they got any production slots for the R63 and the Seattle dealer never did so it was never ordered. Barolo Red is also very nice on the R63. I think one member on this forum has one. Definitely different.

Anyways, please update if you do find some pics!

In the category of things probably only I find interesting . . .

I have finally been able to see (photos of) an ML63 in Pearl Beige. Looks like the 2012 purchased at N Palm Beach MB earlier this summer is now for sale at Brahmin Motors in WPB. I am always curious when you see a car with such low miles (and in relatively high demand) come on the used car market. Sounds like a trade on another high-line car at the dealership, but still - what happened.

Here are some photos in case anyone else but me is curious . . .

Anyone on the board have an ML63 in Dakota Brown they could post some pictures of (or Cinnabar Red or Lunar Blue for MY2013)?

That does look pretty cool!

Funny you mention Dakota Brown once again. In real life I've spotted two new ML63s. The first was a gray one (overseas) that I did get photos of (but didn't upload yet) and the second was a Dakota Brown one that was already sold at the Seattle dealer. Unfortunately I didn't get photos of the brown one but I will say once again that it does look cool despite you already having another car in a similar color.

Talking Ha, test drove this exact "truck"

Hi SO, live in wpb and ambled by Braman one day to look at the new 650GC's and saw this exact beast sitting on the lot...I was test driving it, ten minutes later and about two weeks later had a deposit down on a black one due for delivery in NOV. arrrrrrgh so freakin long, but I'm also particular and if I'm spending this kind of dough might as well be exactly what I want...this pearl beige color while its not something I'd get was definitely interesting if you're bored with the traditionals. As this is my first AMG...had to go black on black with the piano black trim and dinamica headliner, no running boards with the AMG package and 21s...I'll likely smoke the tai lights as I did on the X5 which I'm about to turn in and will post pics here upon delivery and executed upgrades. I did find myself with a huge grin on my face after completing the test drive and it definitely made the decision easy for me in terms of my next daily driver...look forward to getting you Guys updates...

Why it traded

The buyer apparently buys 6-7 cars per month from both PB Benz and Braman...he traded the ML for a new 640GC, he apparently has at least one other new ml63 in his current stable

Zcherry

Thanks for the info on the original owner of that ML63. I was really curious about someone who would turn over a prime vehicle so quickly . . .

Have you picked up your Black ML63 yet?

Kind regards
