Block Heater

Anyone in the Northern zones put a block heater on their car?

I used one on Ford Cougar when I lived in Alberta, and it seemed like the car was a lot "happier."

Has anyone done this DIY on an MB?

I looked into it when I lived in Ottawa. Some of our cars come with the heater installed...you might just need to get the special wiring to connect it to an outlet. Also, getting to the area where the wire attaches to the heater is a PITA. Requires removing other major engine components.
I decided to just try a winter without, and the car was fine, although Im sure a heater would help.

Is this DIY or a PITA or both?
