Xm Satellite Radio
Hello all,
Has anyone recently installed the XM sat. radio in their coupe? I was thinking of purchase one and wanted to see if anyone had done this. I did a search, but could only find one post from 2002. Any help install tips and pics would be great.
Thank you in advance for your time and help.

xm radio
I am very confused. Circuit City told me that the fiber optice in my '02 S 500 makes xm radio installation incompatible. Scorchie tells me the install guy at CC is wrong. Any opinions ?

Thanks alot Citron, i really appreciate the pics, looks very good.
Just couple questions:
Did you do the install yourself, if so how did you run the wires? Also how is the reception, since it is on the rear glass.
Breastroker on mbklasse install his antenna under the dash by removing the instrument cluster, im wondering if the reception would be as good as on the rear window as you have it. I will write and ask him also.
Did you have to plug it in the cigarette lighter? how did you run the wires?, ect. And how did you get the unit to stay in ashtray without movement. Thanks again for all your pics and help.
Take care.
Mike

Also how is the reception, since it is on the rear glass. yes. my brother helped me alot with it. took about 2.5 hours total. reception is great. i havent any complaints. i would like to move it to under the grill/vents on the hood. just for a clean look

the wires are all run behind the console. i removed the center console, ashtray and COMAND. i dremmeled the ashtray so the cradle could fit in there. the ashtray is acutally out, all that is left is the cubby and door. i can replace the ashtray if i want. i installed a second power outlet behind the console. the XM doesnt get continous power thouugh, i wanna fix that.i got the unit to stay in the ash tray by using 4 small screws on the back of the XM cradle. screwd into the bottom of the ashtray, then cliped the unit inside the cradle.

Citron,
What is the best way to take out the radio, with the removal radios tools, through the top vents, or going through the center console and removing the shift knob. Thanks for your help.. I got the XM, just havent had time to install. I work nights and it seems my body is exhausted.
