depends on who you ask whether a chip, will void your warranty. ive heard yes an dno. they are working on a pulley right now for the M271, that would be the best way to get an increase in hp IMO.

ECU won't void warranty ? doesn't it play around w/ ur engine's default numbers or somethign mixing air and gas and stuff ?
i kept thinking it will overstress your engine.. even slightly.. but still more than by default.. thus voiding warranty...
do pulley's void warranty then ?

Not a very responsible statement from a sponsor/dealer, IMHO.

Again, Timid.
Its up to the MFR to prove the mods caused the problem. This is law, not speculation. If that weren't the case, we wouldn't have SEMA.

'Proving' it is not that hard. All they have to show is that you are running at parameters outside the original specs. For example, let's say you chip it and raise the rev limiter to 6400 and your s/c goes ka-boom. I don't care why it went ka-boom, all they have to do is show that the chip put more stress on it than it was designed by the factory to handle (which it clearly did). Warranty denied.
Magnusson-Moss is great in that it protects the consumer from MFR's denying warranty across the board (i.e. "Your engine is modded, so we won't cover the electric seat not working."), but if you mod a 'system' and it fails, it is a lot easier for them to show that the mod was responsible than for you to show that it wasn't.
