A45 AMG running in
I am new to this world of AMG vehicles. I just picked up my new A45 AMG two weeks ago. It was delivered by the "AMG specialist" and he gave me all sorts of recommendations. However, there was an omission from his part that now worries me if something could go wrong.
He told me about the running in process a.k.a. break in period. But he only mentioned the below 4,500 RPM thing, and he actually said that I could go any speed I wanted as long as I stayed below 4,500 RPM.
Well now I am at 1,700 kms and decided to check the owner's manual out, and I found out that it stresses over the fact to keep the vehicle below 140 km/h. I absolutely did NOT comply with this, because I didn't know and the AMG specialist told me something complete opposite.
Do you know what problem I might have? Also what's the purpose behind this? I always complied with the no-kickdown, no full throtle, not more than 4,500 RPM, no downshift for braking. But I went over 140 km/h several times, because out of the 1,700 kms I currently have, 1,100 were highway trips.
Also, what would you suggest for the "slowly increase the load" after 1,500 kms. I have wanted to try Race Start, but decided to not do it until 2,000 kms.
Thanks in advance!
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
lastly race start does take a toll on your clutch etc. that said , why not first soft launch it ? gives you a smoother launch. I recommend sport plus mode and once all temps are in white font on the amg gauge then hold down the brake, then push down the throttle completely. revs should rise to 3k and then let go of the brake . in either case I'd first do plenty of kick downs with a fully warm engine over a few driving sessions first before launching. the revs in auto transmission mode will often go to red line before it shifts , that to me is all the encouragement I need to push the engine ie when the vehicle computer starts doing that it is an invitation to drive it hard. makes a great soundtrack.
the proper race start is super easy though I always had trouble shifting my left foot onto the brake after using my right foot to bring the car to a halt. good luck and let us know how your first launch goes !

I mean not that I sustained for much time over 85 mph, but maybe my average in the highway was somewhere between 75 to 100 mph.
I heard that the "soft launch" actually puts more stress on the car, because the car actually wanting to move forward while it's forced to be stopped.
Yes! I actually have loved every bit of the sound of the exhaust. I am driving everywhere with the valves open, LOL.
I will certainly update whwnever I get to feel my first Race Start!
