High idle cold engine

I've just bought myself my first Merc and an A45 AMG after looking at those for a long time.
I'm wondering if it's supposed to have such a high idle at startup when the engine is cold? It starts at about 1500rpm and climbing down to normal 750rpm after about 1min 45sec.
While driving away with this high idle the gear changes are pretty rough and it's like the car doesnt know how to shift correctly all the time but when the engine is warm and idle is normal there is no sign of a problem at all.

I had a gla 45 and on a cold start it would idle at roughly 1300 to 1500. I would always wait for the oil to fully flow around the engine and other bits to warm up before setting off and once idling revs drop below 1k is when i would set off. it was not jerky except when setting off except when the parking brake would release under throttle . i used to release it manually using the lever in the driver footwell. The transmission too needs to warm up before very aggressive driving and the AMG gauge in the instrument cluster has the tranny temp displayed.
my c63 too will misbehave if I don't give it the full warm up routine before setting off. in fact, it is worse than it was on the gla in this regard . the clutch can sometimes take an age to initially engage
