Lowering a gt 63 2 door

Just picked up a 25 gt 63 2 door. Is this on air or springs. Looking to lower it just a bit

Coming back to this. KW has coilovers for the gt63. I installed them a few months back. They are adjustable so you can get the stance right where you like it. Surprisingly very little if any change to the ride.

Could KW coilovers (or others) be used to IMPROVE the ride?

They wouldn't improve it I don't think. However it would allow one to lower the car while keeping the factory ride. If you want to soften the factory ride you should go to H&R or eibach to see if they will do a softer one off spring

I just went with brabus--- love KW and have had them with over 20 cars but they are back ordered in Germany-

Brabus has them in the OC so only a few miles from me... I can always swap if they are not good.

Supposedly drop the car 25mm front and 30mm rear which is perfect since the rear sits higher.

does the OC location stock the springs and do the install? Did you do the height adjustable one? Wondering if this is a stiffer spring than our stock one. Stock seems extremely stiff

Im having my tech at RG Sport do the install and he sourced it (he is in Irwindale). They shipped it today for Friday arrival.

RG worked on my last 9 M cars, 992, R8, Z06, etc

I got the fixed ones since the HAS will probably just be adjusted once and never again (plus its like 3000). I can not imagine the Brabus springs have any higher rates than what comes with the car. The OEM ones are extremely taut.

Those were my springs..lol they had to order them for me. I returned them because they didn't fit. Does your car have front end lift?. Mine doesn't.
Lots of learning on the install. Brabus was of no help at the time. Where are you having them installed? I showed Brabus a huge time saving trick which should save money if they are doing your install. One thing I didn't realize at the time is Brabus are not adjust as far as ride height. The Kw are.

Sorry just saw who is installing them..they have high pressure hydraulic lines going to the struts. Directions say to open those. Do not do that! It will have to go to the dealer
kw does ride better than oem.

I dont know the particulars but was confirmed I got the non lift set that was brand new from a distributor (not brabus direct) so probably not your exact set. Brabus has the HAS too but wants 2k and not in stock via the US distributor so Ill roll the dice and see how these are. One thing I do NOT want is a rake where the front gap is even more low than the rear cause its already slightly lower stock.

Thanks for the hint on the lines--- he just did a GTC which isnt the same chassis but I think they have a similar style setup. And he has done the 4 door aka X290.

This will be fun.

Who did your install?

I did it. Getting rid of the rake is almost impossible. The only way will be to bring the rear as low as adjustable will allow and raise the front. I did it and the gap at the front was huge. I set both front and rear to the same gap and have some rake which I would prefer level. The rears all the way down gives no suspension travel.

As of 6 weeks ago the only choices were kw or brabus. I was the first to receive the brabus. I waited 8 weeks as the6 were not available yet

Was your brabus the HAS or fixed spring?

Fixed. It was the only choice at the time
back to rake, if you look at their gt63/750 which has your springs in it still has rake. Unfortunately I think this car has been engineered to have rake. I have warmed up to it..lol
My wife used it a few days after I had my suspension set. As she pulled up I thought wow that looks killer...lol

Can you elaborate more on why the fixed springs didnt work?

I appreciate your candor here... No lift here.

because the very first set of springs that Brabus made were for a front lift car. Nobody realized they were different until i tried installing them and they didnt fit. Spent a day with their engineering dept.

I ordered the Brabus springs today 3-4 weeks delivery.
I tried 12 mm spacers on front and 15 mm on rear and that seems to be perfect.

Nice, I think you will like the ride for sure ... I didnt drive my car for a week and totally forgot it was lowered and didnt even notice it on the same roads as I always drive.

I had my tech measure the fender to wheel lip for spacers and Im going to run 15mm for sure. I like an aggressive setup.

Technically 18mm will work too with the brabus drop in the rear ... I have options so Ill just see and post up

are your brabus springs adjustable? I ask because the brabus gt750 which is the car they first tested their springs on sit about the same stance I mine. I am thinking yours aren't adjusted down as much as the 750?

I know my wife commented after I dropped ours that what did I do to soften the ride. I got a kick out of it
