I just pulled the the trigger on the AMG GT after driving the 911s, C8, M4. love the mix of performance and luxury the GT is. checks all the boxes. Just so many c8s out there.

Ya, C8's are a dime a dozen now. Some people like that, but I prefer something more rare if possible.

I definitely see more C8's than GT cars but not so much C8Z's... those are clearly discernable too with their much more aggressive body/width/wing (if equipped). But in reality there are more built Stingrays and Z06's than that of the GT variants. Bowling Green churns them out.

I dont buy cars based on what others have or how popular they might be but instead buy based on how it creates the driving experience I personally want. If that driving experience for others means getting a more rare car- so be it with respect.

what were some of the things that stood out with the GT compared to the 911? I’m mostly concerned about the speed of the transmission.

I never felt like the 911 was exciting. It just didn't put a smile on my face. Both of the Carrera and 4S I test drove rattled badly at low speed leaving the dealer lot which is always a bad impression for me. The exhaust of the v8 is so much fun. It just draws you in. I didn't notice a huge difference between the PDK and the MCT in the GT, but I didn't drive them immediately after one another. I really liked the fit and finish in the GT. The 911s were nice interiors but not equal to the Benz. as we know you have to drop mega bucks into the Porsche to get the thing into more luxury. Honestly my mom had a 350z about 15 years ago and that car seemed more fun than the Carreras.

That's reassuring. I had a 996 that I absolutely adored but I haven't driven a modern 911. I've heard from various owners that they're much less emotional than one would assume given how the older cars are such a riot. One final question, how was the turbo lag on the GT? I currently drive an F-Type so I'm used to the immediacy of a supercharged engine. I'm preparing myself for a significant lag (comparatively) once I make the move to the GT.

Definitely concur that the interior in the GT is miles ahead of the 992. It is stunning especially in some of the more daring colors. I'm looking at Tartufo Brown as my #1.

Honestly, the turbo lag in that GT is very short. I did selenite with Sienna and CF trim. This will be my first car without black seats. Always wanted that brown.
The 992s are great cars. I actually wanted to like the car and get out thinking "wow that was awesome". The rear steering on the GT was the first thing that hit me when leaving the lot on test drive. Dang thing felt like it swung around a pole.

2025 AMG CLE53, 2025 Range Rover P550E, 2025 Ford F150 Raptor
We had a '22 Carrera (base) cabriolet, which was fun as our 1st P-Car. I traded it in on a '22 GTS hardtop and loved it. Well, loved it enough to sell it about 14 months later because it was crazy cool and all, however, I just didn't drive it enough and ENJOY it enough in all the areas I thought I would. Never meet your heroes, they say, I guess. Lovely vehicles, both, however, overall our little '25 CLE53 cabriolet does the trick and despite me trying REALLY hard not to like it better than both the 911s, I think I actually enjoy owning and driving it (using it) more than the 911s. Weird, but life goes on and I checked a box.

That's not to say I won't own another one some day, however now is just not the time for me.

Turbo lag in the GTS was a bit more noticeable than the base Carrera, however the power difference to me, was head and shoulders better in the GTS.

Yes its rather durable but then again I dont drive the car alot- maybe 2500 miles a year or close to it. I use a nice leather conditioner (non greasy) and it keeps it soft and protected.

I am normally a black interior or mixed red/black guts but this one has been great for a change.

I usually put about 8-10k miles on my secondary car each year so I'm very interested in how the car holds up - both in terms of material and reliability. (Sorry to take over the thread folks).
