GT/C192/R192: F90 M5 Comp to GT 63?
I dont post much, other than in the G- Wagon section, because I have a 2019 G63.
However the time had come to finally give my 2019 F90 M5 Comp the boot as it's getting up there in miles.
Couple questions maybe the community could help with.... :
-Has anyone gone from an F90 comp to a GT 63 Coupe? The F90 has been an incredible car, and it's ridiculously fast, and fun to drive. But of course it's a bit understated, and I want something different now. I had high hopes for the G90 M5, but after seeing it, driving it, and reviews on it, it's not for me. It's a massive down grade from the F90 Comp. For reference my F90 has a Racechip piggy back on it, so its not fully stock, but bmw rates the Comp at 620 HP stock, and the RC probably adds 60-80 wheel hp, so given BMW rates their HP at the wheels, its likely somewhere around 675-700hp at the wheels with the race chip. Ive disappointed some very very fast cars with that F90 family sedan. an it's been reliable, and takes a beating for sure. So my question here is, how is living with the 2dr GT 63 vs 4dr M5, or even a E63? How about driving? Or just general thoughts or opinions on what I may like or dislike about it knowing what im coming from?
-I have a 2019 G 63 my wife drives mostly, its had a few little issues here and there, and one big one, that being the rear main seal blowing out due to the oil vapor separators... Is there any issues to note about the GT 63 Coupe? As its the same motor as the G63 if I understand it correctly ?
-Hows the aftermarket support, I would likely want to at least get a piggy back on the GT, obviously warranty is a concern there, but I could explore options like renntech that you can get warranty for.
-Whats the going rate/discounts around on a new model? Im seeing a wide variance in pre-owned pricing with the 2024s being in the low 140k range up to 180K range. I dont mind going with a very low mile used GT63, but if they are offering strong discounts on a new one, maybe thats the way to go instead ?
-What are peoples thoughts on the sport seats. I really like the look of the sport seat, but I dont see very many that come with it. Ideally I would like the manufaktur leather, with the sport seats. Am I crazy for wanting these?? I know the BMW carbon buckets people say arent very comfortable, but not sure on the GT63 Sport seats as I havent been able to sit in one with them.
Thoughts?
The other things im considering getting are :
-Used Lamborghini Urus for myself, and the wife could keep the G Wagon, or we share.
-Get her a new range rover or something, and I keep the wagon.
-Get a 2nd G Wagon for myself, as it's a lot of fun and I love driving that car, I would then eventually swap her G Wagon for something else.
-Get a used F90 M5 CS, or something else.
Id like to be in the mid 100k something like 140-170K, which all of these could fit in that range, but I could go up to 200k with the right car. I would consider a 911 Turbo also, but for what I would want, and the year, I doubt I could get to the budget I wanted, I would have to go with an older 911 Turbo, like 2017-2020 sort of range.
So im kinda torn on what to get, but Ive liked the GT 63 since it came out, and I could definitely be happy in that car, and with it already taking a large depreciation hit, it could be one of the smarter decisions vs a URUS, or 911, or M5 CS.
Cheers!

So Ill try to quickly answer your questions.
I had a 2018 F90 First Edition and have had 2 M8C's as well so I know the S63tu quite well. All were Racechipped too so there is that. The F90 is slightly faster than a stock GT63 (I have RC now) but its not exponentially faster. The GT makes it up in amazing balance, steering, and handling with the Active Ride Control which is frankly, incredible to drive at speed in turns and bends. The GT is just flat. But the give and take is the comfort as the GT is rock solid and doesnt endure bumps like the F90. I have great roads so its not a major issue but it could be based on where you live. Speed overall is gonna be close in zero to 60 and overall trap speed but the F90 should be ever so slightly faster up top but again its a street crap shoot. Soundwise, the GT owns it with the hot V growl but I didnt mind the S63tu at all to be honest. For my type of daily driving which is bends and turns and some grip and rip, the GT is more fun than the F90. I have to re mention how good the hydraulic ride control is; dynamic and crazy inspiring. Its like I have a German GTR. From an interior perspective there are mostly pluses over the F90 with cabin materials and overall feel but the haptic operations of the steering wheel can be annoying. Im just not a big fan of that. I dont really mind the large Ipad screen; easy to see and reach but some find it annoying.
I added the RC to the GT and changes the game equally to the F90 and you will have to assume similar risks (minimal) with the product and possible warranty issues. The RC doesnt push the envelope all too much though and I have not had any issues 1k miles in. It does take a long time to install and that is annoying AF. The F90 took 10 min tops.
Issues? Not that Ive read of but that doesnt mean there are. I have had so many M177 engines and the machine is just bulletproof. It is the same relative motor but obviously engineering and QC has evolved since when I got my first M177 back in 2015 (M178 actually).
I dont know the current market but you can more than likely smoke a used one as the new GT63's/55's just didnt sell all too well. I got mine new but it was on the lot for a long time and my discount was close to 50k all in.
I have the normal seats which are rather incredible but did drive a car with the sport version and they are excellent too. I have an M3 CS and the buckets are similar to the sport seats here and should not be an issue but comfort is highly subjective.
I think you are in the right price range for a nice used one or even a heavily discounted 25. The 24's had 15k trunk money to add but there are no new ones left. As I always do when I reply in forums is state "go drive one if you can" and then "drive it again" because I wasnt super sold on my first drive back when the 24's first came out but then a 2nd drive in early 25 got me thinking.

My F90
Yes I have the comp F90, which is minimal in terms of stock extra power, and thats negated anyway with a race chip. But the ride may be a little worse in my 2019 Comp, at least thats a big gripe with the F90 Comp pre-lci models.
I go back and forth which I like the sound of better, I do like the muscle growl of the AMGs, and RS V8 Audis, the BMWs with the cross bank turbo manifold make it sound maybe a tick more exotic ? higher pitched I guess? I would lean towards liking the sound the AMGs better, as my G63 sounds great.
Ive seen many preowned very low mile GT63's for the 140-160K range, so thats possibly what id do.
I definitely like the look of the sport seats better, but I would also want the diamond stitching as well, and it's proven difficult to find one with both the manufaktur leather and sport seats. Most are either/or. But my first choice would be manufaktur leather like yours but the sport seats. But I dont mind the other seats as well, as long as manufaktur stitched.
Your F90 looked great, here is mine, but I'll be selling it soon! We towed my friends G80 M3 over to a show, with my g63. The G80 is about 1100 hp, single turbo beast. Insane, but I dont need anything like that, and wont be modding anything that much.

I only had it for one year so its a while back but I did enjoy it based on what it was back then. The car was lighter and more lively than our C192 versions but obviously not as fast. I loved the sound and the overall dynamics but I really am enjoying the 4matic plus which that car obviously did not have. The handling of our current version shocks me with the weight being over 44XX lbs while I think the C190 was in the mid 36XX area. I am not tech needy inside although I enjoy what has evolved but the C190 was just fine with its analog environment.
The C192 63 inspires more confidence but the C190 inspired more fun... good tradeoffs depending on what one is doing day to day and the roads that are tackled.
I had a larger set of gonads back then and went with some crayyyyy wheels

I had an F10 before the F90, and both are great cars for what they were, the f10 being RWD, and little more dated on the inside, but in my opinion the F10 was much more "BMW" than the F90, if that makes sense. Not a good or bad thing, but driving them the F90 is the clear winner, although the F10 did have a lot of fun with, but was too powerful for the nearly 600 hp and not enough weight in the back to get traction.
Thanks for the replies!

Thank you, this is a great video. I have to say I would think he would have chosen the GT63 had it not been for the price. A 2024 with 2000 miles I can get in the 145K range. So the price argument is a moot point.
Agreed, the M8, and M5 are basically the same car with exception of the interior design.

also is it just me or is that exhaust sound in the cabin a little off? Is it getting piped in via the speakers?
