Launch Mode for 2026 GT63 E performance
What I am experiencing is not consistent launch mode initiation every time I set up for launch.
I always do this in Drag Mode while it in S+ or Race mode. Engine is warm (drove the car about 15min), straight flat stretch of roads, dry conditions and with Traction control ON. I generally do 2-3 launches at one given time. The few times I got the car to launch correctly, I have the brake pressed hard and the gas peddle is floored, the dash board starts flashing red which tells me the car is in launch mode and releasing the brakes gets the car launched.
In most cases, I don’t get the dash board flashing red and I get about 0.5sec delay before the car takes off.
when the car properly gets into launch mode, I can consistently get between 2.7sec and 2.9sec 0-60 times. In the events that the dash board is not flashing red I get a 3.55sec 0-60 time almost every time as if there is some internal limit being activated.
The car has slight over 2000miles
Is there something I am missing in the process of getting the car into launch mode?
I had a 2019 E63 before this, and I was able to consistently get the car into launch mode without even being in Drag Mode.

What exactly is Drag Mode? There's no such mode. There's Drift Mode, but that's not exactly the mode you'd use if you wanna launch the car. That's for drifting as the name says. All power going to the rear wheels. Not sure why the inconsistency, but there are several parameters that determine if you can engage Race Start, including if the steering wheel is straight. Too many launches in a row will also temporarily disable Race Start to let things cool down.

Also, just a thought, but 2000 miles is barely broken in. These cars don't fully open up until you've got about 10k miles on it. I don't have any concrete info on this, but maybe they are limiting how often you can use Race Start until the car has some good mileage on it and is truly broken in, just like Race Start isn't available at all for the first 1000 miles.

Drag mode is an option when you can select when you choose AMG track. It is not Drift mode. Drift mode is generally with traction control set Off.
One of the options is Drag mode. I also tried it without being in AMG Track.
I only do 1-3 launches at any one given time.

Also, what's new in this car is the Race Track Mode. You may wanna try it with that. It turns off all of the assistance systems that may mess with you and potentially conflict with launch control.
