I scheduled an oil change after break-in
The dealer laughed and said it was unnecessary but I scheduled it anyways lol. I’ve been driving this thing like crazy and I’m only a few weeks out before I hit the 1,000 mile mark. I know “break-in” oil is a thing of the past but peace of mind has no price. Besides, they are only charging me$350 for the pleasure of doing this unnecessary oil change lol, which I thought was reasonable considering the price of the oil constitutes most of that.

They will send you a sample bottle and instructions for free. I'm not sure that you need to do the first sample. The goal of oil analysis is to find a baseline and observe trends. The first sample may not provide a measurement that is valid towards establishing a baseline. Blackstone will provide you with guidance. Hell, you are under warranty, so you are covered for any obvious problem. if you plan on keeping it for a few years you can probably wait awhile before starting. The results will help you to manage the engine properly.

The idea is that these first tests show you the metals wearing in. then, once you stop seeing the metals in the oil, you can extend the oil interval.. break-in is still a real thing very much so and the testing is proving this. Have them collect the oil regardless of if the kit comes in because you can just transfer it to the kid. Just take them a dry water bottle or an old small Nalgene bottle.
