GTR Front License Plate
Hi Guys,
So the dealership did not get the front license bracket for some reason and I'm now having to display my license plate on my dashboard which got me pulled over once. Of course, the officers wanted to look at the car more than actually issue me a citation which they did not. We do not have the small license plates like in some countries where it is allowed or a sticker option too. Also, the GTS front bracket does not work due to different bumpers, I am told. However, given that the dealership did not drill into the bumper to attach the front license plate bracket, I want to know what other options do I have:
- 3M Tape directly to the license plate and attached directly to the bumper? I cringe at this option as the plate my fall off at any minute and there is no adequate place in the bumper - or am I wrong?
- Magnet kit? Is there a place to put those magnets behind the bumper given there is active aerodynamic mechanism behind?
or is my only option is truly the factory bracket into the bumper?
Pics to help visualize, my car with no bracket and the bracket from the dealership as in the official MB pics.

What's the law in your country? If it is just paying a fine and does not affect your driving record why not just pay the fine each time and forget about a plate.

You need this, should fit where your tow hook goes, there is a company that Makes one that mounts similar but you can't unscrew it like mine ,had it custom made so you can take it on and off quick.

Whoa, US style tag absolutely destroys the front end look of these cars. It's a good thing you can quickly remove it. Is it a moving violation in NY to run without a front tag? Has any tried a motorized or manual holders that slide out and up from under the front end.

I saw this solution once.... Looks pretty cost effective

it's a moving violation in NY 🙄I use that Sunday mornings only where local cars meet however heavy state trooper patrols and that's the first thing they look for ,,very cost effective against a $100 plus ticket.any plate on the front of a car destroys it lol

Thanks guys, I could not find a tow hook and it looks ugly. I considered the zip ties as well but they wouldn't be completely secure on the highway. Unfortunately, keeping the car with no front plates is quite difficult as I would be getting violations daily and we have a point system. I ended up using 3M tape and bent the plate to match the curves of the front lip. This will have to do until I get the original bracket and then I may as well 3M tape that

Bracket Installed
All, I've finally received the bracket after it had to be ordered from Spare Parts. It arrived and we installed it. Looks ok I guess, may look better with the longer plates but to tell you the truth, I'm not too concerned, I'm enjoying driving the car rather than worrying about the look of the license plate

This is because I do not have the longer European style plates. When you buy a car here you get the square plates by default and must pay for and order the longer plates. Something I hadn't done yet and honestly not my priority right now. I just want to vroom 😬

Is that the standard European license plate bracket you got there? In North America we get a bracket that’s to be mounted by the driver side headlight which is probably the worst plate mounting solution I’ve seen in my life. I don’t have a front license plate mounted now but I’m afraid I need to find a way to do so soon as my local police are really getting on things like this.

Check out Skeene designs they have a plate holder that I've used on all my cars, mounts under the lowest front spoiler from the bottom with mounting tape and 2 tiny screws.

I ordered this one for my GTS, in case I get a fix-it ticket, based on the recommendation from another thread:
Maryland also had a couple of Bills to no longer require the front plate, for cost savings -- both didn't pass. :/
But I did take a chance on a tow hook option on Ebay, from "EOSBodyKit". As a purely temporary solution it's pretty sturdy, somewhat adjustable, inexpensive at $50, and does the job to pass the 'fix it' ticket.

Has anyone got photos of the c300 front plate on a gt? I saw it somewhere and want to know how they mounted it. Stock gt for the US looks dumb off to one side. And my personal opinion is the tow hook option is to high and looks weird. I need a center location solution.

Use a front plate mount from an SL.
Works perfectly in the front centre

I never mounted a front license plate and have never been pulled over for it - tho I don't know if it's a moving violation in California. I have gotten two street parking tickets, however, for not having a front plate. I drive by police offers multiple times a day, every day without issue. Fingers crossed my luck holds.

I've used the https://skenebrackets.com/, mounts to the very bottom of the front spoiler lip with double faced tape and 2 very tiny screws. It is fully adjustable as to vertical placement and I've adjusted mine so that it's a touch lower than the spoiler so that if by chance I do come across something low the license plate hits first. Have actually not gotten around to mounting it on the new 2019 C43 Sedan but I've attached a pic of it ready to go and a couple of pics from my GLA45 where I used it. I've not actually adjusted the vertical placement yet for the new car. You can see the tabs with the double face tape on them. The other pics is a side view of the previous car. Will post a pic when I get it done. Actually been driving the car since Jan with no front plate and so far so good so I'm not really in a hurry. My experience is a cop having a bad day is enough reason for them to pull you over for not having it installed, otherwise it's not a big deal.
