Ground Clearance

Ground Clearance
Hello all. What is the ground clearance like on your AMG GT(S) in stock configuration? How often is it a problem on a daily drive. So far, all I could find on google is it's 4.9 inches, which may not be true, because in person at the dealer it looks lower than that. Also, does the midpoint of the car ever scrape the bottom of speed bumps/curbs? Finally, how does it compare to Porsche 911s or Corvettes in ground clearances? Thank you

Thanks to both of you! Any tips besides reverse parking into spaces? Does changing suspension mode change dampening characteristics enough to help park?
Also, anyone on the forum that's suffered body/trim damage driving on city roads that required repair?

Not an issue but even with sensors, it does not always detect the parking spot stopper. I have scrapped the bottom plastic piece under the front bumper already a few times so be careful if you get one.
I am not 100% sure but I do not believe the suspension modes affect the height of the car.

Correct, just the stiffness of the dampeners as the coils/springs determine the height and they are fixed.
OP: Im lowered and still don't have issues with the height but I do have to angle in and out of certain uneven driveways and entrance ways.

How much have you lowered the vehicle? Which kit did you use and how is your camber?
I've got the Weistec coil-over kit on order. And I curious how my camber would be affected. Tks

I have the KW coilover sleeves which is similar to the Weistec kit but the Weisteck was not out when I got mine. The Weistec kit actually allows for a lower drop than the KW (a few more turns). I think Im closer to 1 1/2 inches on the drop and then had the dealership do a courtesy alignment (MB will warranty an alignment if you are withing 12k miles or 12 months and your SA is cool of course) and they did the car as close to spec as possible. I don't know what my adjusted camber was but that didn't really matter as much to me as the toe (hate scrubbing) and as long as the camber was reasonable. Ill see if I can check my files later for the numbers. I do not think we have standard camber adjustments on these cars and would need bolts to do so to get the car back to spec.

wow that looks really good! What size are your wheels? At 1.5" drop that's pretty aggressive. How are you on ground clearance going over speed bumps and in/out of parking lots, etc?
Have you thought of corner balancing the vehicle now that you can?
I can't seem to locate a shop yet locally in northern California with a race scale. I may end up just buying one.

Thanks, for ground clearance I have been fine and just angle in and out of uneven driveways if/when necessary and I don't mind that as all my cars are lowered. Im not worried too much about corner balancing the car- Im not tracking it but just enjoying the street ability that the GTS brings. The dealer specs were acceptable for me. Oh the wheels are the same as OEM (19/20).

Just wanted to re-surface this thread.
I'm about a week or so away from picking up my new C63s - and of course my OCD has kicked in to high gear. One of the things I'm a little worried about is underground garage parking (underground garages for both home and work for this guy).
I drive a jeep so I fly down and up these ramps like Batman rocketing in and out of the bat cave - of course now that I've started paying attention they seem to have relatively steep angles...but probably not more than an average underground garage...just seem like it now...who knows...probably not...see what I mean re OCD??
So how is everyone doing in this regard? Any news/updates from those of you up in the thread? (nice car Vic)
Thanks all

My GT struggles with the underground garage I have to park in at home. If I get the approach and departure angle perfect the center of the car won't touch on entry/exit at the top side. If I get it wrong the center cross member rubs, haven't actually touched the side skirts but I'm always afraid it will. At the bottom there is no angle I can come in that it doesn't rub. I cut it as sharp as I can at the bottom but it always rubs. The part that rubs is the part of the lip that points downwards and the front portion of the lip sticks out far enough that you can't see the rubbed area.
