Wider wheels and tires

Does anyone know what the widest wheel and tire combo I can fit on a lowered 2016 GTS

My rear 295 Cup2s are done so it's time to ether replace or modify..

I think Ive seen 12's on 325's - but you might be able to drop a 12.50 with the right offset. (rear setup)

Do you need to add fender Flares with the wider tires?

Vic, where have you been ? It’s not the same without your input and charm. Glad to see you still hanging around.

Designo White AMG GTS
I've had 325/25/21 Pzeros on 21x12 HRE wheels and the car was slammed. It rubbed over bumps and dips. Raised the car up half an inch and it only rubbed over really bad dips at high speed.

However, the Pzeros are absolute garbage IMO. I have ordered 20x11 wheels and I think 305 Michelin PS4 will perform much better than 325 Pzeros. The PS4 is only available in 305/20 or 345/20 and the 345 wont fit.

2 stickier options:

Toyo R888R is available in 305, 315, and 325. I didn't go that route because they are extremely loud.

The Michelin Sport Cup 2 is available in 305 and 325. I didn't go that route because I don't track this car and they only last ~5000 miles and are bad in the rain.

New 295 cup2 installed yesterday..
I believe public answers are always best so that others can see the answers without having to search...

So what size and offset are front and back ? No 21"s for me...

You can do 19"x9.5" // 20"x12" like the AMG GTS below.

Unfortunately HRE does not divulge offset information until an order has been placed.

So knowing what wheel specs you want to buy is a secret you can't get ?
Only a fool would buy from a company with that attitude... I've got a ruler or two sitting around and I won't be buying HRE wheels for my two AMGs after that information ..

Having had 17 sets of HRE's and been to their factory many many times I can understand why they hold back offsets. Offsets are a visual science in my opinion and what most dont realize is other wheel companies make a lot of mistakes in offsets trying to get the perfect aggressive fitment that wont rub at stock and lowered levels. Ive been the "victim" of this three times while using other wheel companies. And while its not entirely a secret as once you buy the wheels the offsets are on the invoice, I do see why they like hold some things private at least at this level of publication.

I'm sure their flow form and three piece wheels do not all share the same backspacing and HRE are not the only wheel manufacture that can offer proper wheels for the AMG GTS / E63s wagon.
I'll shop around no need to pay a AMG tax and after all I never said I wanted HRE wheels to begin with...
They are now off the list..

Thank you for being a loyal HRE fan, we work our butts off to bring the best wheels to market and we're glad to have you on our team . To procure those fitments we spend a considerable amount of money and time in order to verify these fitments and offsets, so we're not interested in posting those publicly and giving all of our competitors our information. We reserve the right to keep that information to ourselves, as we feel this is proprietary information. If you love the way the wheel looks, you love our color options and you MUST have a set of our wheels on your car, then the offsets really shouldn't make any difference if you know them or not, as we're clearly pretty darn good at what we do having done it for the last 40 years.

Bigger rear rubber would be great putting the power down.

Unfortunately, it's this attitude of keeping wheel offsets a "secret" that has led to - and perpetuates - the American consumer's ignorance of proper wheel fitment. This is in stark contrast to companies in Japan and parts of Europe that go out of their way to educate their customers about pretty much every aspect of their wheels. And that's why even a 90 year old obachan knows what wheel offset means, and how it affects the way a wheel can fit and look on a car, while the majority of US consumers give you a big HUH? when you even mention the word offset. I'd venture to say a company like HRE could spearhead a revolution in the US if they abandoned this all-too-common practice of petty information suppression, as other companies would most likely then follow suit. And the real winners would be the consumers, who will no doubt appreciate the transparency, as well as the chance to learn something that has long been regarded (in America) as some sort of voodoo science.

I agree. And with every wheel and car there will still be variations that a professional can help you with. IMO, the smallest changes in offset can really make ir break a cars stance.

After doing a AMG track day at Laguna Seca I have come to the conclusion that aftermarket wheels are a waste of money and if ya can't see them while behind the wheel why bother.
So if you are a poser and want to impress others with the money you've wasted while parked then go for it.
These cars handle great on track with stock wheels even when pushed to limits I would never try in the real world.

Money saved for more road trips..

I was beyond disgusted with the way HRE do business as well. Just because something looks good in a certain photo angle doesn't mean it will look good in all angles. And what if the customer decides to tweak the offsets a little bit.

After HRE refused to 'help' me 'decide' on my offsets, I went with ADV1 last year. I'm never going to buy HRE.
