Engine & Transmission Temperature

My car's engine seems to be running between 210-223 degrees. When I drive it hard, it could get up to about 228.

The transmission temp seems to be stable at around 190.

Is this engine temperature normal? I know 249 degrees and the instrument gauge will start to show the red warning light.

Mine has stayed pretty constant with 3 bars remaining but I do get a slight smell of coolant and burned oil is that normal?

Sounds completely normal, I'm not sure that the 249degrees is correct though, I've had a GT reading 123C (253F) on track at Monza and had no warning lights at all but I did expect to have them!

You guys saying the temp is normal, or the coolant smell is normal?

per the operator's manual, up to 248* is normal for the coolant
does not say anything about engine or transmission normal operating temp.. does anyone know these values?

also the top temp is the engine oil temp, the bottom temp is the transmission fluid temp. Where is the coolant temp seen?

So i just got a hole today in the driver side front radiator with fluids leaking. Temp slowly creeping up. It's a 2018 GTR. Any chance getting it covered under warranty?

If the car doesn’t have the radiator guards installed then you can make a very good case that this should be covered by MB, along with installation on both sides of the radiator guards.

I recently had this same issue in Canada, on my passenger side and went in with the same argument. MB ended up covering under the factory warranty and also installed the updated three piece radiator guards.

My dealer’s great and agreed with my view on the matter, but I think it may have taken some work on their end to get MB on board because there wasn’t a campaign / recall, for the radiator guards, affecting my 2018 GT C in Canada.

Best of luck!!

My 2018 GTC showed up as a warranty issue and they put in the new guards at no charge. I wasn't in for anything more than a different minor issue but when they looked up my VIN they did the radiator guards. Simple and fast.

Coolant Smell

Resurrecting this old thread. I just purchased a 2018 GTR, 2k mile car and first thing I noticed was the smell of the coolant when i brought it into the garage after my first hard drive. Next day I received the check coolant level message. I checked the level is below the minimum. Wondering if this is a common problem. What others have done etc.

Thanks!
