Buying a GT R: Please help and check if this is genuine
Hi,
I'm a new GT R prospective owner (current car is C 63 S Edition 1). I'm currently looking into buying a nearly new GT R Track Edition (car at Finnish car dealership site). The texts are in Finnish but please don't mind this and focus on the images. VIN info of this car can be found here). The for sale info says this car is Track Edition which I know as Edition 1. The looks seem otherwise normal but I have never seen a car with this AMG lettering on the roof stripes and this doesn't have the Edition 1 stripes on the sides. Also it seems peculiar to me that there are no carbon ceramic brakes on a track edition car (at least it doesn't say so on the calibers). Also the calibers I have seen are usually orange but that could be just the optional yellow colouring stated in the add ins.
Does this car look like the real deal by the pictures or just some basic GT R -model with after market add-ins which would give me some haggling options? Is there even a track edition for GT R or is this just a ploy from the dealership? Thanks in advance if you can give your 2 cents!

I think the car is a promo car for the races. It has the stripes, a special performance tune option and a larger fuel tank option. Since it wasn’t going to be raced competitively, they saved the $$$ for carbon ceramic brakes which are gold in color and went with the yellow option.
My bet is that it has seen a few tracks and been around a few as well.
IF MB will warranty it (CPO) and you have looked it over carefully Haggle a little and buy it.
I don’t have any idea how many GTR’S came with those special options but I am sure not very many. Maybe it’ll be worth more at resale or trade time in a few years.
- M016 PERFORMANCE ENHANCED ENGINE
- M030 GT R VERSION
- K11 ADAPTIVE STOP LIGHT FLASHING
- F190 MODEL SERIES 190
- FC COUPE
- 915 FUEL TANK WITH GREATER CAPACITY - VOLUME 2

This actually checks a lot of the boxes. The decals look way too nice to be just after-market but don't look normal enough to be Edition 1 -basic decals. The options have a lot going for them but aren't logical enough to be something someone has bought. Also the car is only about 0,5 years old with 6000 km's or 3.7 thousand miles which is not uncommon but kind of peculiar. Good to hear that others also see a discrepancy, will use this to my advantage since I really do want the car
Let’s be very clear here, there are NO EDITION 1 GTR’S!! So make your decision on what you see and what the dealer will do for you.
Enjoy!!

There are absolutely atleast GTS Edition 1 models available since they are currently available at MB sites in northern Europe. However not sure if GTR's are available?

May have been tracked and somewhat high mileage for 6 months but maybe not for Europe. I would get a Pre-Purchase Inspection and if you're comfortable with a car that likely was flogged right out of the gate and the price is right then good luck with purchase.

360 k€ is roughly 430 k$ but this is european money (and taxes). So this GTR is about 400 k$ with taxes. I know we have a lot of taxes.... Don't need a remingding of that....

ok I just checked and I have all but K11 items on my US spec gtr so those are standard features and not special to that unit. Further, we had a pretty good drama a couple years back as a driving academy car was sold to a customer without disclosing the history of the car. The customer was able to identify the exact car in many driving academy footages . One explanation for the high mileage but only 6 month of age could be that it was a driving academy car. Look very closely for very subtle color variation where driving academy places hood and door stickers.
Good luck and I hope this was helpful.

no worries. I am looking at the built sheet. I will take a pic of it today or tomorrow.

Please know I am NOT trying to be confrontational in any way....just saying.
FWIW: I happened to take my wifes GLC in for a Service “A” this morning and asked my AMG tech about those options. He looked on the tech screen and didn’t see any reference to them.
All this means is that the car with those options is more than likely fairly rare. I would love to know what the MB declaired and the real crank HP is.

The list starts out so well in Englisch and then just goes German sideways with those long nouns and generally impenetrable descriptions.

There is NO question in my mind that this us a very special build.
The seat options alone are amazing

U98 Lithium Ion Starter Battery
Seems like that might be a mistake?
I also have M016, M030, 915 etc on my car so I'm not sure if these are particularly special items afterall.

This intrigued me too as sized drivers seats sound interesting. However when I checked my own build sheet i have:
