R8 to GT S
sold my lava gray 2011 R8, V10, 6 speed that was heavily modded with VF Super charger/ppf/ spacers/wheels/diffuser/cf splitter/cf rear wing/steering wheel/pedalbox/H+R springs...car had 13,000 miles and was awesome
somebody made me an offer that was too good to pass up, wasn't looking to sell but what the heck
was looking at several slightly used replacements including 458/650S/gen2 R8/ NSX/Huracan...ultimately decided to hold off for a bit
this past week I traded my 2013 SL550 (loaded with 15,000 miles) that I purchased in January for a 2016 GT S Edition 1 with 1,500 miles
wanted a more exciting daily driver than the SL and less of a special occasion car than my R8 and figured the GT S kind of split the difference between the two

MBWorld Fanatic!
You are now addicted!! The E1 is a great car and if I didn’t lust after a GTR I would still be driving mine.
Enjoy

AMG GTS Solarbeam Yellow
Welcome!
I made a similar change, albeit not supercharged, from an R8 GT to my GT S
Recently tuned and downpipes and the car is completely transformed
Are you in Texas as the plates suggest?

hello everyone
got my eurocharged tuned ECU back about an hour ago and took a quick test drive
for those considering a tune here are my initial thoughts:
got my eurocharged tuned ECU back about an hour ago and took a quick test drive
for those considering a tune here are my initial thoughts:
- takes less then 60 seconds to remove/install the ECU- awesome
- Shardul at UPD was a terrific help and highly recommended- he is knowledgeable and responsive with great communication
- car was down for 3 days
- no codes, lights, hiccups or any issues
- faster for sure- how much based on butt dyno? no idea but noticeably faster and traction control lights confirms same- I will do some real world testing and report measured results when available
- cost/benefit is a no brainer; for anyone into performance its the cheapest and easiest improvement you can make- I put a VF Supercharger on my R8 that took it from 600 to 750 hp and although that improvement was more dramatic it was literally more then 10x the $$!

it makes a great dd for me
for years I had a high end "special car" for limited use put aside but that became silly, after all, why not enjoy something that's depreciating no matter how little you drive it?
the GTS was a compromise for me in that it wasn't what I would classify as exotic but more of a super car that can be used daily
I don't drive in heavy, long commuter traffic nor do I often have to park in bad areas so it works really well
visibility is perfectly acceptable, the car isn't too low for speed bumps and normal road hazards, in comfort mode its quiet when I feel that is necessary and its not screaming for attention
sport+ and race mode change its personality enough to keep it entertaining and feeling special
with ppf and ceramic coating it became worry free
