New GT S Owner
Hello, I just wanted to post up an intro to the forum. I just purchased a 2016 GT S in Silver to replace my 2018 Corvette Z06/Z07. I live in SoCal and purchased the car in Vegas earlier this week. I flew out to Vegas and drove the car home to California so I had a bit of drive time to get a feel for the car and learn how to work everything. So far I love this car and I think I'll be happy with it for many years to come. This is my first MB. I considered purchasing an Audi R8 or a Dodge Challenger Hell Cat Red Eye but ended up wanting the GT more. I was looking for a more comfortable car than my Vette, but still exciting to drive and look at. The R8 is nice, but more sports car and not as comfortable as the GT, the interior on the GT is also on a whole other level IMO. The Challenger just looks too much like any other Challenger, it could be a rental car for all anyone would know by looking at it, just not as special, and again the interior on the Dodge was pretty plasticy.
Compared to my Corvette, the interior in the GT is so nice and the car rides really smooth. The GT just feels more solidly put together than my Vette. In terms of raw power and acceleration, the Corvette with it's 650hp/650ftlbs obviously is a bit faster. The Vette's acceleration is pretty violent, the GT is still super fast, but much smoother and seems like it puts the power down much better. I can't really compare the way the two cars handle as I haven't taken the GT on the track or any real twisty roads yet.
On the personal side of things, I'm 51 years old, live in SoCal and work as a Sales Engineer for a custom software development company. I'm into riding bicycles, both road bikes and MTB. I race motorcycles (mostly road racing, but I have raced motocross, supermoto and minis) and work as a riding coach/instructor for a couple different organizations. I'm currently the New Racer School instructor for Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association (CVMA), coach for So Cal Supermoto, Coach for Racer's Edge Performance. I still actively race an R6 out at Chuckwalla and race a CRF150R mini moto at various tracks around SoCal as well. I'm also the track announcer for the motorcycle races at Chuckwalla Raceway.
Anyway, that's me. I've been lurking on the forum for a while, reading about the GT prior to making the purchase, I just thought I would do the intro now that I purchased the car.
