GTR PRO debut

Here's a link with some initial press and pictures as well.

Some thoughts:

I like the driver display and the infotainment display and the revised on/off button...Not sure about the center console touch buttons. Not a fan of the steering wheel, bodywork on the car.

Definitely a step up from the GTR in terms of tuning options and way out of my scope for street use.

Can't believe they didn't upgrade the turbos.

Well good news is no power increase for any of the 2020 cars including the PRO. I would have cancelled my 2019 if they put the E class motor/turbos in the GTR or PRO

So do the 2019 GTR's get the new dash and steering wheel - or is this new for 2020? I was under the impression that the DOG for MY2019 for the GTR said the car was unchanged, except for the addition of the track pace app.

The dash/steering lights etc are for the 2020. I think for the 2019 you will get the radiator guards.

Do not like the look of that steering wheel at all. Don't know why they couldn't leave the console the way it was. Doesn't look as good as the present one. I prefer the round push buttons more. Reminds me of software - always having to change things to change things, and not necessarily for the better.

There will be a GT BS coming out probably in the final model year of the current generation, reportedly confirmed.

Renntech GTR likely faster. Don’t understand this besides brake cooling which should have been addressed with GTR.

This engine needs a hp bump.

Kind of disappointed. Like a GTR with bodykit. Same 0-60 mph times and 198 mph top speed. Needed at least 600 hp to compete with 600 LT.

Why would you want a wet sump motor in a GTR?

Dissapointed with this.

A few upgrades that my contacts at mb said we’re coming on this car failed to materialise. No sign of the promised weight loss either.

More adjustability is good though and I will still take the car. Just not as excited about it as I was before the reveal.

That "bodykit" made the car 6 seconds faster at the 'Ring. Much faster than extra ponies would have done.

I guess what I mean by "e class motor" is the same turbos. It's widely known that motor is about 80 more hp than the GTR motor despite the factory ratings.
After testing numerous stock cars Renntech rates the GTR motor at 609 stock and the E class motor 691 stock. The torque is a much bigger spread

Could have just put on slicks on a GTR and it would've done the same lap as the pro or better...

My guy from headoffice said 6 points rather than the ****y dangerous 4 point setup. Different seats. Project one style wheels for brake cooling. Talk of 30-40kg weight loss.

My plan for this car when the car arrives is just to do some of those jobs myself. Will also continue the hunt for a GT4 wing.

No doubt the extra aero on the front; (dive planes and bigger splitter) help mitigate the understeer and the bigger rear wing keep the **** end planted better, but I feel that the fully adjustable coil-over suspension and rigid ‘links’ are where the gains are primarily coming from.

Have to admit I’m a little underwhelmed also. It is gojng to be a better track car what with the suspension changes, and the extra aero will help, but at what cost to street driveability?

I wish they had increased the tyre size a little, particularly in the front as well as going with a more aggressive tyre compound also.

I also don’t really care for the new steering wheel from the pictures, although I like the new dash.

And why in the hell couldn’t the car have come with say 625hp? It would make up for the lack of appreciable wright reduction.

It will still be fantastic no doubt; I just don’t think its a big enough ‘upgrade’ for me to think of trading.

Racing slicks would have accomplished the same at a fraction of the cost.

Bingo. Would have been more impressed with substantial weight loss and horse power gains.

AMG not keeping up with McLaren and Porsche.

I agree as well . I was thinking there would be a bump... I would not kick it out of the garage but no upgrade path for me.

When I wear out my existing set of track only MPSC2 ZP tyres, I’m going to get a set of Hoosier R7’s for the car. That should liven things up quite a bit! lol

Hey, stop your complaining, lucky you don't have only 500 un-tunable hp like in my car,, Oh, and less torque than my E43... lol .
