On my way to Home Depot - lol. You may not get that Evo being from Switzerland. All in good fun and thanks for taking the time.

I agree. I’ve seen better quality chicken wire. I am doing the factory ones.
See you at the Rolex? I just broke my foot so I the Orthopeadic doctor I am seeing in a couple of hours may not be too fond of me walking around even with a walking boot.
IF I GO, I am not taking the GTR because of my foot
Regards

As for the Renntech ‘solution’; well to my eyes it looks like s h i t e, your ‘chicken wire’ statement is apt! lol
I’m going to do the factory screens myself. When it starts to warm up I’ll talk to my SA and MB Corporate about covering the labour costs.

Nache, I perhaps could have written my post better. I will have the dealership install the OEM cooler screens, or if I can’t get some financial assistance from MB USA, I’ll have a local high-end body shop do it for me.

Only way I'm going to do it now. Is if MB covers it. Like I said earlier. I'm not into paying what will most likely be close to a thousand dollars (4-6 hours labor) to have this done. I've only heard of one breach on this board. So chances are pretty slim. Probably have a better chance to get MB to cover it. I'll continue to wait and see what happens for the time being.

Thank you for posting the pics from Renntech, it does explain why they were so secretive when I asked for the parts/pictures. It looks like a rabbit's cage. I'm definitely not installing those...

I look at it as insurance. I don’t want to experience anything coming through to the coolers. Too much non warranty $$$$$ involved.

UPDATE;
Well I just got my car back with the new screens installed and I am extremely pleased.
THE GOOD NEWS:
I didn’t have to go out of pocket for anything, a very professional installation and look like they belong there.
Installation as others have reported is about 4 man hours with or without headlight removal.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Please be sure to have your filters and the entire front bumper/intake area vacumed out to remove the sand, stones-etc that ARE in there. I live in florida and the roads are fairly clean and I still had lots of the stuff. I can image what owners who live in other states will discover under the bumper.
ALSO my understanding is that the rear underside has the same issue with stones, gravel etc being trapped.
I hope this helps anyone else considering this project.
Best regards
Jerry

Jerry, great stuff.
Any chance of being able to share you invoice from the dealership so that we, (I), can take a copy to my dealer and try and have the screens installed gratis also?

Guys:
As much as I would like to, in the interest of dealership confidentiality, I won’t be able to accomodate your request for a copy of the service ticket.
I am sure each of you must have a very good long time business relationship with your dealer.
In case you aren’t aware the dealer has a customer relations slush fund for things like this issue.
My recommendation as the best course of action is for you to have a meeting with the Dealership General Manager and Service Manager.
In this meeting, I recommend you request that the dealer take you as the customer out of the issue, foot the bill and recover the expense from MB ( dealer to corporate transaction)
The total retail or customer cost will be around 4 labor hours plus approximately $50 using the genuine MB parts (internal shop and parts cost will be less).
I hope you understand and accept my position and my recommendation helps you successfully resolve this issue as well.
DON’T FORGET TO REQUEST ON THE SERVICE TICKET THAT THEY VACCUM THE FILTERS AND REMOVE ALL GRAVEL AND DIRT FOUND —BOTH FRONT AND REAR.
Best regards
Jerry

I will be happy to help all you guys any way I can.
TRACK PACE
Since my foot is still broken (week 2 of 6) of the boot process, I am moving on and will try to resolve the Track Pace issue that NOBODY wants to talk about.
I am going to start a new thread on this issue.
Also, did you see the picture of Renntech brake cooling vents? They aren’t on their site either. Looks like a well made product. (Euro only?)
Stay tuned.
Best Regards
Jerry

I wish MB would cover the installs of the oem sreens.. been fighting em for awhile now...

My understanding is that there may be 350 GTR’s involved worldwide less the ones that have been done...maybe 6 or so.
As you may also know, there are some that were delivered with only one screen installed from the factory on the right side of the car.
I strongly recommend that other MB dealers follow my dealers lead and take the customers out of the middle of this issue, foot the bill and then wrestle with MB corporate to reimburse you.
FWIW: In my opinion these types of issues are very annoying to loyal customers who buy your products instead of the competition.
Thanks again for your efforts.

My local MB-dealer called me for a survey regarding my last experience with them regarding the installation of the screens (which they didn't install since halfway through the guy doing it realized it was going to take longer, and that suddenly it was going to cost 1200€, to which I declined). I told them on the phone just how pointless the whole thing was, and now they'll install it for free, with the "condition" that I take my car to their location for checkups when necessary. It's a win!

hey Jerry I came up with a skid guard. Id like your feedback as Ive taken into account the fitment and operation of the under car aero vent.
