Yea GTS is gone and GTC is the mid model.. but 550hp..wide body, rear wheel steering.. good choice if you want great performance and looks but arent tracking as much as you may in a GTR.. a good choice for most people.. I did the aero package on this one.. no CCB's since more of a street car maybe?

no pricing on 2020 GT's yet

I know it adds $9K(?) but I think it will sell easier with the CCMs.

Spec looks good Shahul. I like the bordello red/black interior against silver but my own car is silver pearl/black and it's a nice combo.

Wonder if Apple Carplay retrofit would be possible like R8? Prolly not with new COMAND system.

You might price point the car out of market with the Ceramics--- its a street car that can be tracked vs the opposite. I think the irons are good for this car as I dont know really anyone yet (here or in the real world LOL) who is hard tracking their GTC coupes.

I personally like the option but it pushes the msrp up hard to the next tier. You know best as you have to retail it in your region.

Nice Classic Build - HEre's My $0.02

Thanks, Shahul, for posting these builds that you have on order. It gives us an opportunity to see what you and others are spec on GT cars. Given what the GT C has to offer as a sweet spot between the GT and GT R, it's probably OK to create a spec with some higher cost options. I'll preface my comments (based on nearly wearing out the AMG GT configurator over the past few years and using the 2020 MY DOG) by saying that I recognize that you know your market - what cars people order and what they go wild about in the showroom. As this will be one of your first 2020 AMG GT cars, it pays to make it a great showroom spec. Classic Iridium Silver vs. a magno is classic and it's fine although I'm partial to Selenite gray based on my Ed1 experience. I'd like Selenite Magno better if it were a shade lighter.

Here are my thoughts on all the interior bits: I don't think I've seen the interior gloss carbon fiber trim. I like the matte carbon fiber trim but if I were trying to manage cost, I would likely pass on the carbon fiber crossbar and keep it silver, which wouldn't be bad on this silver car, and I would stay with the standard all-DINAMICA steering wheel (L6G) for grip on cornering and the look. Staying with the standard crossbar and steering wheel would save $2,500. On the configurator, I always dial up either the red or gray "Black w/ Silver or Red Accents & Silver or Red Topstitching (621 or 631 - which require 735) with coordinating seat belts (Y04 or Y05). I wonder why the red version is not available in the GT R? You'd lose ventilated seats but keep heated seats. I think these added costs are worth it.

I would order the standard controller knob vs. touchpad because I've used the knob enough to know what I'll get with, e.g., 3 clicks right or left for radio stations and for selecting numbers on the phone. Frankly, I don't use voice activation much. I tend not to stare at the headliner while driving, so I wouldn't think to change it. I see it's part of the GT R-specific exclusive interior package - didn't realize it was a standalone, too. I wouldn't pay extra for it. I didn't realize that the fixed panorama room with shade was standard on the GT C optional on the GT. Interesting.

I really like the interior night package and would consider the $800 for PAK well spent. It requires the L6G steering wheel, which I like. I think the dark accents would tie in well with the exterior night package. This is personal preference. Some might like the silver accents, I like the dark trim as I had in my Ed1 - and 1,000 designers and marketeers who likely argued about all this can't be wrong. (HaHa) The fact that you get illuminated door sills and tone down all the silver on the new steering wheel is good. This pkg is standard on the GT Rs.

I like fixed spoilers so I believe the AMG Aero pkg is a good add. I wish the larger GT R wing was optional on the GT C. I didn't realize that this pkg is available on the GT C - Great. Maybe now because the GT S is going away. Now, AMG, just give us the bigger wing! Definite yes on the exterior night package especially with silver and for a great showroom spec. car. I would get Distronic (239) although I don't have much opportunity to use cruise control but safety aspects are great. The RXR wheel is a good choice for this car. Another one that I like is the RXP, but admittedly, black wheels are in and I have them on our GT3.

And now the option that sparks the most controversy - carbon ceramic brakes. I like them and I'd spec them for any GT C or GT R that I would order. And, yes, it's shallow to say I don't like brake dust, but I really like the stopping power under all conditions and, if buying a new AMG GT car, I'd likely not track it (I can drive the car at Exotics Racing an hour from where I live in SoCal) so I'm not needing to upgrade rotors, pads and fluids at a reasonable replacement cost. At the GT C price point, I don't think ceramics will be a deal-breaker and unless someone absolutely can't use them because of their preference for tracking the car. In some cases, price relief between list and your cost would likely be possible to close a deal for a non-track buyer who doesn't want to send $8,950.

In light of the high cost of ext. carbon pkg I, it's sensible not to include it on a car for stock. I love music and I upgrade my sound system on cars then never turn the radio on because I'm listening to the engine. The standard (middle) radio on the GT C should be fine especially if better than the one on the '16 Ed1.

Whew. That took longer than I thought but it's always fun spec'g these cars. I should save this post for future use. Trust me, it's so great to have you and Steve posting on this forum. I occasionally stop into the M-B dealer (proclaimed largest in the galaxy) less than two miles from my home in SoCal to look at AMG GT car colors and options (like the poorly spec'd silver magno GT R on the floor with a $50,000 "market adjustment" - it's been there awhile). They're not gearheads and they make mistakes when talking about specs and performance. Thanks, guys, for your support and insights and willingness to sell cars to forum members. Cheers!

Anyone who is spending around $160K for a street car is going to be very interested in keeping the wheels brake dust free, as well as liking the larger rotors and distinct colour of the calipers; hence having the CCM option is an absolute no brainer, IMHO. Especially for what, an additional 6% of MSRP?

Thanks as always I did the gloss carbon to get the carbon fiber/dinamica steering wheel which we just started offering which I think is really nice. I am wary of making a loaded GTC cost near a less optioned GTR..., since they still havent released the MSRP's.. its tough but I assume same delta as last year.. bit more on the MSRP's (maybe 1%).. just because.. im sure they will say for the Apple/Android ($350 on some cars) and LCD screens ($850 extra on most cars).. plus the cosmetic changes..

Im on the fence on the CCB"s .. they do work a lot better in/at colder temps than older CCB generations

Trying to make sure.. there are only twenty 2020 GTC's in the country on order thus far...

What if I add CCB's.. drop the interior carbon fiber, and the CF steering wheel, but add the interior night package (adds gloss black trim).. if I add the CCB's and assume they may track, I'd upgrade to the R03 cup2 tires?

The Latest GT C Build! Nice! Another $0.02.

Shahul, You're right about managing the MSRP to hit a price point between the GT and GT R. Possible charges for Apple CarPlay and the LCD screen are factors; I would want them though. Good point that the CF sport steering wheel should be matched with gloss not matte CF elsewhere, but going to piano black with the interior night package saves a lot and I think it's a great look. I agree with keeping your original interior as it's cheaper and keeps the ventilated seats. I typically special order cars but except in rare cases, I wouldn't buy a car out of dealer's stock if it didn't have CCBs. Exceptions: CCBs not available on the car; other aspects of the car (eg an in-stock launch edition) overrode the CCB preference.

Regarding the tires - and I hope you get feedback from people that are actually driving them. My 991.2 GT3 came with Dunlops (also now OE on the GT2 RS, which is interesting because with limited GT2 RS production, it would seem that there would be enough Michelins to cover that car). I'm pleased with the tires and like the GT R where the R03s are standard, it's what I'd want on the GT3 or on a GT R. I see that DOG calls the standard R01s "High-Performance Tires", so if they are not nearly "All-Season" and truly a high-performance summer tire, the standard R01 might a safer option for a GT C. (Really curious to hear what others think.) Issues are rain (we've had a lot here in SoCal) and cold (we've been under 50 deg at night) including possibly being surprised by bad weather in colder climates.

If someone is going to track the car, they can wear out the R01s while they're getting up to speed in the new car and then go to the 03s. And if the R01s were about to kill a deal, maybe you could remount R03s or offer a small price adjustment. Another possible customer perception issue is someone wanting longer tread life on their daily driver and who will never take the car to 10/10ths routinely. Wow. I'm glad that I don't have to order cars for stock - all the allocations would be gone by the time I decided on cars for other people. (Of course, I've saved my personal 2020 GT C and GT R configurations just in case.)

Shahul ,

Would the suspension for 2020 GTC be the same as 2019 GTC? When I was looking to get back into another GTx, I shied away from GTC due to is firm ride and went with a GTS instead. Just wondering since there is no more GTS in 2020 and beyond if MB soften the ride a bit on GTC.

At the risk of sounding like Captain obvious, I think 2/3 of the ride equation is MICH P4S and tire pressure.
