This software from http://bimmerguru.com/mercedes_benz demonstrates how to unlock your head unit in 3 simple steps:
1) Turn on ignition, wait 30 seconds and then insert the SD card into the SD slot located in your car.
2) After approx. 1 minute a message "Remove SD card" will show up.
3) Once you remove the SD card, the system will reboot.
Your front screen is now unlocked, Navigation address entry, DVD, USB video and internet in motion will all work:
