Hey all,

I'm from SYD and joined to get some info about mods. I've never been one to modify my cars but I plan to:
  • Get a Diamond Grill installed
  • Get my brake callipers painted
  • Get twin exhaust wing tips

I did buy the Muscle Leopard Diamond grill off eBay but couldn't bring myself to install it. I worried that doing it myself or a smash repairer would damage the Distronic or lead to warranty issues. I also wasn't so keen on non OEM parts.

So I got a quote from my dealer in Sydney and it's very expensive as the grille actually comes in four parts. They are ordering the grill parts of the C450 that isn't available here yet. They commented I was the first to do this in Australia. All of the parts other than the line in the middle are in the country. They middle part will take 2 weeks to come from Germany and they asked for full prepayment because of the special order. Installation will take 2-3 hours.

The quote is here

I've decided to get my brake callipers which are the AMG line package painted red. I decided on ProVinyl in Artarmon who want $1200+GST. I asked for a better price and he basically said you get what you pay for. Mentioned it to the service advisor who said they are good. He has had lots of customers do it themselves or cheaply and they come back to the dealership complaining they have flaked off or deteriorated. He says they won't fix it even though they try to claim it on the warranty!

Finally, want the C63 type of exhaust. Dealership quoted $1180 each but as it's just a screw on part I'm going to get this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-...366307093.html . Yet to decide on black or silver.

If you have any questions let me know. I know the grill is expensive but it gives me piece of mind, will be installed by the dealer and this covered by warranty and I take comfort in that. Also read others have said the ebay version actually isn't the same number of diamonds and rows.
