Question about AVIC-N1

I'm sure somebody has asked this before, but to all AVIC-N1 owners, did you need to get a separate brain to get the unit going? Or is it a plug and play unit? I know a lot of the older TV units need a separate brain? Please let me know. Thank you all.

It has a second brain that goes with the unit, but if bought new it comes in the box.

one key note is that it only comes with a 6 foot cable... you are going to want to order the extension cable if you plan on installing the brain further than under the front seats

I have it, it needs a separate brain. Mounted it in the passenger footwell, however, if I had to do it all over again I would buy the extension cable and have it mounted in the trunk.

mounted it in the passengers foot well? Can you show pics? It has a small range of angles that the brain needs to be mounted. Is it below the carpet or above?

i'll get on the pics tomorrow but it is screwed into the plastic cover above the carpeting in the footwell. Eventually when I have more time, probably this summer I am going to have it moved into the trunk,
